ok, so my cousin wants an 04 wrx, not the sti, as they are too pricey for him. and i've looked at all the specs n stuff and they actually seem pretty fast. faster 0-60 than the gt and pretty close 1/4. believe me, ive tried to talk him into a stang, but he likes these. so my question is, how does it far with a gt? not liek were gunna race n shyt, just wanna know ur opinions on 04 wrx vs 04 gt, both stock. thanks.

i personally like the WRX, if i wouldn't buy a stang and was gonna spend the same amount, i'd prolly buy a WRX.
WRX's are quick i just like the mustang better.........obviously

My buddy has one of the earlier WRXes. I think it's an '02. He ran a 9.1 in the 1/8th with just a few bolt ons.

Theyre nice, but if hes looking into modding it past stock, he better get a tranny fund started, theyre glass even with stock abuse.
my buddy has a 20g and support in his 06 WRX, and it scoots pretty good. he was dead even with a bolton Evo MR on the freeway till they both shut down at 130ish, sadly though after they took off i was the chaser and they didnt pull on me at all, they put a quick bus on me but it stayed that distance afterwards(gotta love the long 4th gear). i wanted to run them both but we came up on traffic and each of us went our seperate ways.

Tell him to get a Catfish, or a Fireturd if he doesn't want a Mustang. A base model Z28 isn't that expensive and they are actually faster than the SS Camaro's and T/A's from what I've seen. My guess is because their lighter. A LS1 Z should have no problem beating a WRX.
Better than a import I say.
BTW he really will be faster than you with a LS1 car so maybe you should tell him to get one.

I have driven Newman's WRX and really really enjoyed it. It pulls like a mofo for a little car. He's done a few things to it but not much. I wouldn't mind having one myself.

This is true. Newman went through two stockers under warranty and then got an aftermarket one once the warranty ran out.
This is true, too. In completely stock trim, my WS6 will walk all over Newman's WRX. I haven't run one, yet, but I hear the STIs are a different story.

I have heard they struggle on high speed runs due to the AWD... a gift off the line but a curse once you get going.

I edited my original post. Newman's WRX is an '02 not an '03.

how much more boost over stock can the engines handle (not just take for a little bit before blowing up)

my buddy got his tuned at 17psi because the tuner would not tune above it, but my buddy thinks the tuner sucked because he "sees" people running 20-22psi all the time. i told him im pretty sure a tuner with the amount of racing experience he had knew more about tuning than a handful of forum whores.
