I'm wanting to switch my Momo shifter out for a Hurst and was wondering if this one will work size wise. I can seem to find a solid answer on the fitting. I thought it was 12x1.75

Yes, I've made a couple of shift knobs and I'm pretty sure that, that was the size tap I used for the one I made for my Mustang. I'm only 99.7 % sure though.

The only thing I wonder is if the shifter boot will come up to meet the bottom of the handle and how it will stay up there. Anybody know?

Not sure, my shifter came with a ring that slides up and down the handle to hold the boot up. For the knob i run i had to cut the boot and slide it down.

do you have the stock shifter if so you can find out the thread pattern and size much easier than if you have some other brand. Most top notch brands match the oem pattern (MGW > *)

I've seen people using this knob on the Mustangs. It looks very nice. Go for it if use like it.

I like it but I'm just trying to find the chrome one or polished one with the adapters. Can't seem to. That add says brushed or chrome but when I go to order it doesn't give me the option of selecting which one I want. Plus I'm worried about the boot situation. I guess I could take the boot off and put a bolt up inside it to raise it up to be flush with the bottom of the shifter.

do you have the stock boot? I have an aftermarket shift knob and the stock boot comes right up to the knob no problem. I dont have any rings or anything supporting it, but i also have a Prob 5.0 shifter. I did have a hurst shifter before and the knob and boot were good to go with that too.

Drove down to Summit Racing today and picked up the chrome shifter. I had to do some "alterations" to make it look good and it turned out great. The boot would not stretch up that far to be flush and cover the stick so I took the whole stick off, took a hacksaw to it and trimmed about 3/4" off of it. Sounds ghetto I know but it looks PERFECT plus I have a shorter shifter now too! lol

Look here my good fellow. You should get the one with the button on it and you you can get soon nitrious and use the button to activate it.
Shift Knobs - Latemodel Restoration Supply
BTW Hurst shift knobs are like the best there are. Hurst = classic Musclecar.

Naaa, no NO2 for this car. Cops are BAD about that around here. They see that button and then they'll start checking everything. That won't be good when they look under the car and see no cats!

No cats in Georgia = No big deal.
But yes Georgia cops are some real dicks, especially the Lowndes County ones, I lived there for many years. You can use the button to activate just about anything, but if you don't like it I'm not going to try and push it on you.

JROC, for one, no its usually no big deal but the GSP has been cracking down lately in this area. I know of several people that have been hit in recent months. Second, I'm just not very interested in running nitro. I'd rather spend the money on other add ons plus nitro putting alot of stress on a supercharger if you don't have it tweeked just right. I'm not saying it's that bad but I'd rather not chance it.
Spector, I'm for sure interested in coming over to the meeting. I may be less that 2 hours. I'm actually west of Atlanta in Cartersville, GA which is in Bartow County. A "No emissions required county!" Where in AL do you guys meet?

well we are going to be meeting in Huntsville, 100 miles from me (1 and a half hours taking my time to get there) so its not TO far especially if you are less than two hours from Birmingham (im actually in Hoover which is closer to the interstate (its RIGHT where 65 and 459 meet.)
if we can get a couple others we can meet and go together or something, I dont know of anyone else going from down here... maybe birminghamstang who has not been on the site in forever
