Well, with the track finally open again, I made the sojourn last night since it was nice and nippy out. This is the first time I've been back since my new tires, running 11.6 PSI, and with the custom tune me and Andy worked on.

Previous best was:

60FT = 2.20
1/8ET = 8.85
1/8MPH = 83.35

New best:

60FT = 2.17
1/8ET = 8.55
1/8MPH = 86.72

This was much closer to the time I always thought the car could run, but I think there is still a bit more it could do. The best run was the very first run, IE: I drove the 40 minutes to the track, dropped off a buddy and went right to the staging lanes with no cool down time and a very modest brake torque. I'm begining to think though that my Pirelli P-Zero Nero's aren't to great when they get hot becaue my traction and hence times got worse as the night went on. I guess they are truly a street performance tire becaue I wasn't really heating them up all that much, just enough to get the water off, but I continued to have traction problems from then on. On my last run, I was even breaking lose half way down the track so I decided that was a good time to calll it a night

In addition, since it was just Test and Tune night, track prep was pretty crappy. So it looks like there is a definate possibility with a cool motor, cool tires, and better track prep that it can do a sub 8.5

dont worry reaction time doesnt have anything to do with how fast your car is but if you take off after mark for example idiots in the stands will have the grand illusion that he is faster lol

So then, technically, running at the track isn't a real race either...just like you say running on the street isn't...since getting out the end first doesn't really mean you are the real winner. Right?

My opinion: Your side lights up...you win. You are a part of your car, so, your driving abilities and reaction times are all part of it. Light on = winner.

You have two ways to race and thats it. You can see which car is actually faster or you can compare reaction times and allow them into the equation. The more scientific view is which car is actually faster, but in the world of racing or street racing or top fuel dragsters etc etc they allow reaction time to be a factor so the drivers can make a difference.

You can race how ever you wish but if you cant see that reaction time has nothing to do with which car is actually faster then there is no help for you... if your argument is that you see this but you still think reaction time matters then more power to you.

Maybe on the street, but not the track. To me, the track is the best way for Avg Joe to "scientifically" test his car. If you want a reaction time race, might as well go from a stoplight.

Part of being a good RACE car driver is how well they take off from the line. By saying reaction time doesnt matter is a ricer excuse.

I'll lay it all out there... Your fastest ET is 1/100 faster and your trap is about 2mph faster than mine. So if you just wanna compare fastest ET's, you win. I don't think, however, that you can line your car up next to mine, cut the light, and beat me to the finish line. There's the gauntlet.
