Any owners with stripes, are they paint or decals and why decals or paint? I went paint for the durability and look but it cost me just north of 2000.00 Canadian

If I was going to get stripes I would want them painted. How much is that in American currency.

to do it right you need to paint them, but... stickers work. I personally wouldn't add them on if they were stickers.

$2.35 ...
And, I would go paint as well. It is the same as the letter inserts on the rear bumper. I could get the vinyl/stainless ones...they will over time peal/fall off. I will paint the letters....and only paint them.

and get it painted right else a paint shop can RUIN your car's paint and you will have to pay more again to have it done right.

You can have them painted any color they make paint for. They do make a chrome paint if you want to pay the money for it. It is something you would have to talk to the painter about.

If your talking about stripes on new GT500's, the lemans stripes on mine are paint. Just bought car Saturday, and assumed for $1650, I was
getting paint. Should have known better, and stand corrected.
Still would like to when stripes started on conv., and how many
black with red made.

Did you buy your car brand new? Because ford used vinyl stickers for stripes and not paint.

my stripes are painted on. i think it depends on if u want that textured look or the smooth glossy look as well. but i think u can get either with either paint or sticker. r u getting the stripes to go all the way down both bumpers or stop at a certain pt? i think stopping at the hood and going all the way down the back looks good to me. but of course that's just an opinion. lol

The question is...are they painted or are they vinyl under clear coat?
I just remember the debate about how cheap ford was being for not painting the stripes on and using vinyl on the GT500....never really looked into it more as I didn't really care since I had and have no desire to ever own a GT500.

In your case, your car doesn't count then. since it was custom and not ordered from ford like that lol

Seems stripes on 500, are vinyl under clear. Trying to find out how many made. Dealer
told me, Ford rep told him, they were doing a small run of black, and red, and white, and
red 500 conv. at end of run. Less than 300 each. lol. I would'nt worry about stripes
not being factory, as it looks like a lot of cars listed, did'nt come from factory as
listed
