I recently bought a 2000 Mustang convertible. I love it, but it leaks and it is making me crazy. It seems to leak from each bottom corner of the rear window. It just accumulates in a little puddle but I have a fear that it will get in and eventually kill the convertible top motor. There is already mold in the trunk... Can I seal around the window somehow without messing up its ability to go up and down? Or is it recommended that I bring it to a professional???
Any ideas would be great!
Thanks!!

Well...pretty much you can do a cheap fix and try to reseal the rear window, or just replace the top. They are generally a 5-6 year product, if they last more than that you either have a really good top or are taking excellent care of it.

the area where the rear window meets the convertible top (next to the bottom seal at the bottom of the window) seems to be where water comes in at, its just in the design. With the to about half way down you can view the seal there and see if its pulled upwards to much (you can push it back down a bit) and that might help.

My 2000 convertible used to do the exact same thing. I used to leave a towel in the cavity where the top folds into. I got it fixed by going to a place that installs convertible tops. He resealed all the way around the back, and it hasnt leaked since. So my advice would be to take it to someone that specializes in installing and repairing convertible tops.

yeah i have a 2000 convertible as well that does the same thing. I haven't really thought about it much but I do keep a towel in there too. Was that an expensive fix?

I had mine fixed when I was in Northern Virginia. Any good shop that installs convertible tops and does upholstery should be able to fix it. He had to remove the black moulding all the way around the back and sides and reseal it again. The top still leaks if I take it though a high pressure car wash around the front side windows, Oh well, can't have everything I guess. If I recall, it cost me less than 100.00 to get it fixed. I still keep a couple of old towels in the trunk just in case.
