Front Grill Emblem Help!

When I bought my 97 Mustang V6, the front pony grill emblem wasn't there, so I ordered a new emblem from the dealership. It didn't come with the required hardware to install it so I also ordered the screws for it. The screws I ended up getting looked like Torx screws. Did I get the right hardware? I notice the 2 holes for the screws to go into don't have any grooves. It looks like you're supposed to just slip like a plastic screw in there or something.

Soooooooooo...I need some help me in getting the right hardware. Like, what's the part #? Do I just have to order screws or is there additional hardware? I doubt the screws I got are the correct ones. If anyone's feeling extra nice, can they snap a close-up pic or 2 of the hardware that holds the emblem in place?

the OEM equipment is a tamper proof torx bit bolt. What you seem to have described to me sound like push pins. The bolts are not plastic they should be metal and black. You will need a special torx bit to screw them in.

You're right, they're indeed metal and they need a special Torx bit (can I get it from Autozone or something?) Thing is though...the holes where you insert the screws are plastic and there are no grooves in them. It's hard to explain...I'll have to take some pics tomorrow to show you what I mean.

yea they screw into the stuff I think to hold them in, you can buy little nuts and put them on the back side of the screw if you wish.

Cool beans. Anyone know what kind size or kind of special Torx bit I'll need? It's not your normal Torx screws because they each have like a little "tit" in the middle.

How do you get the stock screws out since they are tamper proof? I miss the pony off my old headlight panel.

i think i know what your talking about and i had to buy some to open my MAF. I just got a set from autozone that had the little hole in the middle for the "tit" to fit into. The set i got had a bunch of sizes for like 10 bucks i think. that should work

autozone has them you can pick up a set of teh bits from there you will just need a spinner to stick the bits in (a screw driver with the end so the bit fits into it = spinner)
