They are illegal because they block the light from the bulb...this could possibly cause an accident because other drivers can't see the brake lights very well....so says a PA State Trooper

most of the time you get pulled over for something else and they get you for the tint while they are at it.

I got popped once just for tint, hence the reason I have no tint.
The cop, however, did not say a word about my taillights.
And actually, they are completely within the law here. You must be able under normal visibility circumstances to see the brake lights from at least 50 feet away.

In PA you can't get pulled over just for tint...you need to be pulled over for something else, probly something legit and then they nail ya for the tint....same goes for the sealtbelt law, they can't pop ya just for that either they need an excuse to pull you over first.

Well both tint and seatbelt are primary offenses here in MS.

You would think that seatbelts would be a primary offense everywhere, safety violations almost always are.

The same way they can tell you that you can't smoke pot and that you have to wear a helmet when you ride your motorcycle. Who needs common sense when we have a government that has it for us?

technically---u can put someone else's life at risk by not wearing a seatbelt. if you are inside of your car without a belt on and for some reason you get into a high speed accident or one that causes you to flip over, you could potentially hit and hurt the other person in your car. i've seen accidents where passengers have gotten hurt because the driver's body flew over to their side and hit them.
imo, its not smart not to wear it. i won't let anyone in my car if they don't wear it. plus is a primary offense in jersey.

smoking pot can cause you to harm others, riding with out a helmet is a personal choice
i usually drive alone, and i personally know more people who have died in an accident because they were wearing their seat belt, i am about to disconnect the seat belt alarm if i can figure out how, i know how to make it stop dinging but the light still flashes
