Fox Body mustang... HELP!

Okay, I have a 1981 fox hatch. I basically need to replace everything. I'm planning on dropping in a 5.0 EFI engine in the car, and want to run low compression so I can boost it down the road.
What are some sites to get alot of replacement parts? 5.0resto doesn't have anything regarding 81's from what I saw.

Finding parts for an 81 is getting hard to do, but the good thing is, many things can be grabbed from Foxes up to 93 and then there's always the options to upgrade to newer stuff up to 2004..... it all depends on what you want to do.

gut it, make sure the body/unibody is clean/solid -- weld in roll cage, install seat... remove all useless electronics, throw in carb'd 351 mated to a tko 600, throw on a 200 shot and call it a day
oh you're gonna have to upgrade that 7.5" rear, too

if you want to do it right rip everything off of it and do it right from the ground up. If you want to cut corners then im sure you can just to rebuilt it for a fun car.

yeah how many dings and dents does it have?
and if your gonna use anything 1/8 inch thick duraglass is all thats needed

Honestly, I didn't look it over that closely to see exactly. I was more concerned with getting it running and driving it to his house. Won't really know the deal until we tear down everything we know he is ditching...like carpet, headliner, seats, etc, etc....
Then, to wash it up to get the years of dust/sap that have accumulated off it...then get the rust off it and sealed...then see where we are. |

Yeah I feel you on just getting it running how I been there.
BTW if it has rust which im sure it will (floor panels, rockers, inside doorjams, trunk area, wheel wells) I highly recomend looking into PPGs rust products they are life savers if you prep the area right (thats if its not decayed rust cause then your screwed till you replace the whole paneled area)

Strip off everything that will be going in the garbage for sure...
Find and remove rust...seal areas that have been treated.
See where you stand...create plan of attack...desired goal.
Start executing plan. |

no doubt. should be lucky hes in the south cause on my car I had to replace the whole damn floor panel. which worked out cause I ended up getting full length subframes welded in at the same time
