My brake pedal recently developed a habit of not returning to its original position after being depressed. It causes my brake lights to stay on and sometimes causes my battery to drain if left on after being parked. I replaced the brake light switch to no avail. Any other suggestions?
Is it the brake pedal itself? if you pull up on it, does it return to position... ?
It could be the brake master cylinder is sticking/binding and not allowing it to return all the way
-- Need to know -- year of car/ style of brakes (hydro boost? or were they all vacuum assist back then?)
(it does have power assist brakes, yes?)

Yes it seems to be the pedal. It seems to be in a very slight bind at about mid stroke. I can pull it up, and it returns to the correct position. It's a '66
V8, hydrolic drum brakes, no assist. Replaced the master cylinder about 18 months ago. Daily driver.
