I'm torn between the two. Not leaning one way or the other. So I could use some objective opinions.
If the majority is to lose em, please tell me the best way for me to remove them.

Remove 'em. Makes it look a lot better. I got rid of mine about 2 years ago.

luckily i have a b.s. at my disposal. if there is a faded line, i can take it to one of my old painters and have them color buff it out. he's the same one that will paint my mirrors as soon as i take the damn things off. but so far i am leaning towards taking the guards off. comparing one with (mine) and one without, the other does look cleaner. now the question is, how do i take them off?

Take them things off. Wait for a fairly warm day and let the car sit in the sun.
I've taken them off with just my fingers on 2 different cars. Never had to use anything else.
Just start at one end and slowly pry up with your finger tips without hitting the door paint and it should start pulling off. Now just pull until the whole thing comes off.
You can get the residue off by either using a clay bar or some real patience with your fingers.
Or...if you'll come up here I"ll do it in 5 minutes while you watch.

Haha...
One way I've heard to get it started is use some fishing line or dental floss. Just put it between the door and the piece, there is an 1/8th inch or so of 3m adhesive, that's all that holds the things in place.
If you'll put this against the door guard and pull up slightly it should come right off man.

id recommend the fishing line method as well. also, have a buddy use a heat gun on the area about a inch ahead of where you are cutting/sawing with the line. the process will take mere seconds that way. also if any residual sticky is left, the heat gun will come in handy for that too, it turns it into sticky gum like and you can just work it off with your finger. im sure someone is going to get aroused from that last sentence btw.

remove them, they look like trash on there. At least on the 94-98 they followed the body lines instead of like the 99-04 where the ruin it.

I already told you how to remove them.
take a hair dryer put it on low go over the area and pull off.
If youve waxed the car you'll have residue just go over the area with wax and such and in most cases the "line" will just disappear. if not a clay bar takes care of that issue
and for the love of god get rid of them
