The best thing to tell you is stay off the little right pedal as much as possible. Take your time getting up to speed and avoid hard braking for red lights and such.
Basically, you want your driving as smooth as you can make it.
Also, make sure your car is properly tuned up. New plugs, wires, clean air filter, new fuel filter, properly inflated tires, clean car (kinda extreme...but every little bit helps) with plenty of good wax to reduce drag. Avoid running your air conditioner except when on the highway, it will actually give you a little better gas mileage to run the air conditioner on low during the summer with the windows up than driving with the windows down.
