With the mods for the cobra starting to wind down, I have started working on the mod list for the 02 GT sitting at the house. One thing I am stuck on, is do I want to go Natural...or not so Natural.
Here are my thoughts....
1. Shoot for a 400 rwhp NA car
2. Shoot for a 400+ rwhp supercharged car
Keep in mind, this is an automatic 02 GT.
For the record, here are some of my initial thoughts:
4.10 Gears
Trans Cooler
Shift Kit
VT Fully Forged GT Shortblock
VT Stage 2 ported heads
Stage 3 NA or Blown Cams
Trickflow Upper Intake and plenum (depending on SC choice)
Bassani Midlength headers
Bassani 5 Piece modular X-Pipe with o/r flow tubes and cats
Probably stick with the current magnaflow catback.
My thoughts as far as SC's go are to either go procharged...or get the 2.xL kenny bell with intercooler. Obviously, if I get that, I don't need the trickflow stuff.
I also have some styling/fuel/suspension/etc mods...the standard stuff.

Which can only mean I am going to say I thoroughly despise turbos and have no desire to ever install one on a car of mine.

lol its gonna cost half the bluebook amount of the cobra to mod the GT with VT stuff alone!
but if you really must mod the gt, id go n/a. get the VT stuff, get the 5.0mod stroker whatever its called, make around 350 to the wheels with that setup and then a 150 wet shot when needed.
though i wouldnt mod the GT at all if it were me, just gears+tranny stuff, nice exhaust, done. dont have to worry about shit breaking, have a nice fun DD.

A S/C would give you a good increase in power while still keeping the cars excellent drivability. Your not going to make a lot of N/A power from a Modular motor without some deep pockets.

5.0 stroke on a 4.6 is a massive stroke...nearly pulls the piston out of the block at bottom dead center...was going to do that in the cobra until I saw pics of the stroke...yeah...not a good idea for longevity.
It will either be VT or Boss330 ... but, 330 has a pretty good waiting list...VT is 2 weeks...so...we will see.

yeah same with the 2.4l strokers for a dsm, which is why they dont rev them to 7k+ like a 2.0, most guys use them with a smaller ball bearing turbo for quick spool for autoX or RoadRacing.

i was told 4.10's would be a bit much for a sc/tc car. would 3.73 be a little better for ya?

It would depend on the SC. If I go KB, then yes, if I go centri style with the procharger, no...it will give me that umph to get up to full boost RPM.

Turbo it. Put rods and pistons in it, a good crank, build 4R70W, 31 spline axles, 3.73's, 31 Spline limited slip out of an F150 with carbon clutches, Hellion power systems turbo setup, Trickflow intake, turbo specific cams, FRPP aluminum drive shaft, weld up the torque boxes, UPR upper and lowers, antiroll bar, 2800 stall and/or transbrake, UEGO wideband, autometer gauges, the obvious dynotune, Weld 15 x 8 Prostar I or II's, 275/50 15 MT ET street DR's, and something up front, or if its a street car go with some 17 x 10.5 and some BFG or other like DR and like 17's on the front, aeromotive fuel rails, 42 or 50 pound injectors, supporting fuel system, like twin focus pumps, or kennebell BAP, hmm.... what else. Oh, maybe some patriot heads. If you want to be double sure, find a good short block, DSS, Keith Black, etc.
