This is gonna be the first mod aside from exhaust that i'm gonna do, and i need a good link to a place someone KNOWS is good to buy a traction lock and a 4.10 gear (automatic). and how much should i expect for an install?
also, when i'm looking for 3.9 parts, might i just as well look for 3.8 parts? are they practically the same?

go ford racing for gears and tlok dont buy richmond or any of that crap, just oem ford.
for the install it will range any where from 200-400~ and pay more to get the job done better as its a nightmare when the rear end gets messed up and its not hard to screw up a gear install.

t-lok and gear look good? so i'm looking at probably $700 for both bought and installed?
and on the T-Lok, it says "REQUIRES 4 OZ. OF FRICTION MODIFIER ON INITIAL FILL. 28 SPLINE 7.5" FOR V6 MUSTANG. " what does that mean? and how do i get the 4 oz. friction modifier?
and is my mustang by stock default a 7.5"?

yes you have a 7.5" rear. Friction modifier can be found at any parts store.
Just curious, why did you decide to go with the 4.10 gears?

yea the auto tranny has worse gearing when compared to the manual so 4.10 help even it back out and they need all the help they can get.
friction modifier is easy to get and cheap

Yea I knew that was the reason but I wanted to ask anyways. Just want you to be sure of everything that you're getting in to.
I don't know if your car is a dd or not but your gas mileage may go down with highway driving.
Your RPM's will be about 500 more then if you had your stock 3.27.
You may already know this but I just wanted to make sure because when I was new at all this I just went ahead with what everyone else said and took their word for it, which i shouldnt of done.

You will also see a slight increase in mpg in the city because you will be in your power band sooner for cruising.
If you are worried about gas mileage you really don't want to mod your car. But..actually...I get 28-30 on the highway in my car how it is right now.

I just didn't want him to get everything installed and spending all his money, then all of a sudden wonder why the hell his RPM's are at 2600 cruising down the freeway.
I think some people don't fully understand the side affects of everything that they want to do to their cars performance.

It's cool.
If you are looking for a cost efficient seat of the pants improvement, you can't beat gears.
As far as your speed difference, your rear tires will be turning over 4.10 times for every one revolution of your driveshaft. Factory, your tires are turning over 3.27 times for every one revolution of your driveshaft. This will cause your speedometer to read a slower speed than you are actually going. As far as an exact speed, I can't tell you an exact measurement.

It would probably read 6-7 mph slower if you were doing highway speeds. If you can't afford a chip or tuner right now and want to get the gears, get them installed and have a friend follow you to see how much your speedometer is off. Once you figure this out you can learn how fast you need to be reading to do the speed limit and such.

Depends on where you get it installed.
I'd shop around to see who had the best price on install with a warranty.

friction modifier?
thought it was an install piece lol... so i can probably self apply that then?
also, another question. When looking for stuff, i have a 3.9, can i look for 3.8 stuff cause 3.9 is sometimes not even an option.

Yes, you shouldn't run into an problems between the 3.9 and the 3.8.
