Ok, whipple is going on next year around tax time. I am also thinking I will be doing the shortblock to go with it. So, here is what I am looking at:
This is an Al Papitto - Boss 330 Racing Shortblock...
# New Iron Romeo Block
# Dowel pins,plugs,tensioner pins
# Forged steel crank
# Manley H beam rods with 2000 Series Rod Bolts
# CP 17cc Dish Pistons
# Mahle Plasma Moly Ring Set
# Federal Mogul Main and Rod Bearings
# ARP Main Studs for use with Windage Tray
# Rear Main Seal/Plate
# Motorsport Cobra Oil Pump and Pickup
with the following upgrades:
- Bore Size .030
- Block Option Current Production Aluminum Block
- Rod Upgrade Manley Pro Rod Upgrade
- Piston Style -17cc Dish
The grand total for this would be 5,160.00 with the option selected. If I leave everything as the basic short block with just a .030 over bore...it will be 3850. However, I really want to move into an aluminum block (+ $560) as long as I see them perform well since they were just released in January of this year. And I also want to upgrade the rods (+ $750) as the standard rods are reported to be good to ~650-700 hp...and that is where I am aiming...so the ~1200 hp rods sound better to me.
The over bore and Piston styles are free upgrades/changes. The options for pistons are 0cc flat top, 9cc dish, and 17cc dish.
By the way, what would be better in those styles? I Am pretty stupid when it comes to building engines when it comes to specifics...which dish and why?

The more dish you have...the lower your compression ratio will be, the size of your combustion chamber will also effect the compression as well....this means you can run more boost safely on pump gas though....im not sure what would be the best but either the 9 or the 17 cc would be better than flat top pistons for boost applications.....Everything there seems to be great parts to build the engine the right way and be able to make great power....hope you make it to 700 hp.

Whipple @ 21 psi or 2.8 KB @ 15-17 psi should get me there no problem...my main confusion was the dish. Wasn't sure what all of it meant. According to the email I got back from Lethal Performance....I should go with the 17cc dish to maintain my current 8.5 ratio...which is what I wanted to do anyhow. I just didn't know the dish cause compression.
With the support items that are going in with it...I should be all set (headers and a ton of fuel stuff)...I just need to make sure my short block is as bullet proof as possible.
Oh, and it was also recommended to go with a .020 over bore instead of a .030 just in case any re-work is needed in the future...a .040 is not safely possible in the 4.6...and pistons are pretty much non existent for that as well....so the .020 would leave a little room for a some freshening if needed in the future.

It's painted black if that matters...
And...it will come with the stock plenum for a stock TB or an accufab plenum for a wide mouth TB...both painted black as well.
I will be sure to ping you when the time comes.
I KNOW the whipple is going on this winter...it is the shortblock I am trying to squeeze in as well. I thought the port would get my through for a little while...but it just isn't cutting it and I want more...I am used to it already.
To put it plainly...I guess "I want it all....I want it all...I want it all....and I want it now...."

sounds like me with my 'stang. lol. I wish I had all the money to do it now, and not do it in chunks... but i guess by doing it in chunks and taking my time, i'll learn a lot, and enjoy it a ton more in the end.

just over 500/500 at the moment. There is still a few more numbers to be had once I get my fuel issue solved...
My car is fast as hell, even I will admit that. However, when I mash the throttle for people on their initiation ride, I feel as though I let them down because it feels like a taurus accelerating...even though the passenger's ears are touching.
It was great for the first couple weeks...I could feel the down low hit increase....but now, I am used to it.
