A friend of mine is looking at a Shelby GT and they quoted him 8 grand for the Shelby package on top of a Mustang GT. Now you go to their website and they advertise that exact same VIN number for just 32,375. And on the bottom of the page it says nothing about markup as well.
I'm seriously considering printing this out an taking it to them and saying you are advertising this on your website I want the car for this price. As you will see the GT500 is only marked for 45,760. Now I went to the dealership and it said that it had a 20,000 markup. Well guess what, that same car/vin number is shown on THEIR website without the markup.
New Vehicle Inventory
Just search for mustangs and have a look for yourself. I think I might actually push the legal issue. And then sell it

Can anyone offer any legal advice. I want to be sure that there is no way that they could just "toss in" that markup at the last minute.

typically whatever is advertised on the website, if it is the same vin, they would have to honor. if they do not honor it and you have proof that they are advertising it for that, then you can call them on false advertising if they refuse to honor said price.

It has been tried when the GT500's first came out....there is nothing you can do because it is MSRP price, so it is just what the Manufacture suggests that the car should sell for. That is not a binding agreement for the dealership as they set the ultimate price for the car. So, all they are showing you is what the MFGR claims the car should sell for, not what they are selling it for. You will be SOL with any legal attempts.

yeah that price has nothing to do with what the dealership adds. they will just laugh at you and say "why would i sell it for this and make zero profit, when i KNOW someone else will come in here and buy this car for what i know i can get for it?"
btw the dealership could sell the car for 20k out the door if they wanted to, or 100k if someone really wanted it that bad, it doesnt matter.

That's more like the info I was looking for. I guess I should read where is says: 45,760 MSRP
There I go trying to get ford back for that dam markup. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

It's a waste to pay MSRP for a GT alone...they aren't worth the nearly 30k MSRP they have right now.

lol yeah. MSRP is just what a dealership uses to mark up prices from there. You might want to check your own window sticker, the MSRP is almost always lower than what the sale price is.
