i have a 00 gt and a budget and was wondering whatyou guys thought would be some fairly inexpensive mods with kick, besides an intake and h-pipe?
was also debating on a steeda or B&M for a shifter. any preferences?

a shifter will not make the car any faster just more fun to drive. Steeda > B&M and MGW is better than either.

i love my tri-ax, never tried a b&m or mgw tho, gears are a good choice u will notice a big difference while accelerating. alot of people say 3:73 on a 5-speed and 4:10 on an automatic, i went with 4:10 on my 5-speed. you can get some gears for like 170-200 i believe, and another 150-200 for installation unless u do it yourself, aside from that i would go with a set of cams (certain stages depending on your application), upgrade your whole intake and exhaust, and a nice tuner to go along with it

I loved the tri-axx on my tr 3650 trans, but I don't know how it'd feel on your 2000

I had the triax on my 2000 GT and it was not bad at all...it was a hell of a lot better than the triax was on my t56.
If the 5 speed MGW shifters are anything like the 6 speed...they will make everything else feel like shit. I love my MGW...

The steeda feels just as good as the mgw IMO

Yep. If you like to slam your gears hard don't get a MGW.

Might you want to back that up with some data?
My MGW shifts smoother, shorter (blue handle), and more precisely that the triax ever could. There is no notchiness that I had with my triax. There is 50% less noise than the triax had. The overall feel is much better than the triax...even over how my 5 speed triax felt.

I don't care, you can not slam your gear with a MGW like you can with a Tri-Ax or Pro 5.0.
And I disagree and MGW is not more presise than a Tri-Ax, it actually feels more vague IMO.

You are one of about 5 total people that think the MGW sucks...and the 4 others I know totally ride steeda's nuts on everything...no matter how much they copy other people.
Oh well...keep rolling through your notchy gears...I'll chat when you catch up.

I have a MGW and a Pro 5.0, and I prefer the Pro 5.0. It is a shorter, more precise shift. The MGW is quiteter and smoother though.
A little notchiness isn't a bad thing when you're banging the hell out of a gear.

i dunno, the mgw on my cobra was a little more notchy than the triax on my gt, i always figured it was just the tranny. i never shifted the cobra fast though, i believe with that much power you shift nice and easy and let the power do its thing, no need to risk missing a gear with 500ft/lbs or whatever going into tranny-shred mode.

Oh and for the record, the CAI on my 02 mustang GT did jack crap, didn't feel anything on the butt dyno and felt nothing at the track

The triax on my 00 GT was great...total shit on the T56....it is because of the tranny.

i will also vouch for this. demodded my GT and it felt faster. had a demolet cai, 75mm tb/plenum combo. the only thing that changed was the exhaust tone, got more defined. i might just get a K&N drop-in.

My Tri-Ax is the only produce of Steeda's that I like, Steeda is not my favorite brand. BTW I never said that MGW suck. I'm saying that its not the end all to all shifters. If you like your MGW then good on you, I like them too, their a good shifter, but their not much, if an better than anyone elses.
BTW that notchiness if there for a reason.
