So I was down in Oklahoma for the MCA car show with the black mustang club and we went out to Thunder Valley for some track fun.
I got 2 passes in and on the 2nd one the car fell on it's face in 4th gear at around 4500 rpm.
the oil and coolant looked fine but 2 of the spark plugs were quite messed up and 4 of them showed signs of detonation. It cruised fine after replacing all of the plugs but did not idle right. On the way home I went through a lot of rain and sucked water into the engine and it would not maintain idle after that so the car is going to be in the garage for the next year as I save the cash for a new short block. I'm going to get something good for around 900 hp and eventually push between 500-600 rwhp.
so I have to live with the car in the garage but must remember how much better it will be when fixed!

Yeah, I hope we get some good bonuses at work. I need an 03/04 cobra fuel tank, wideband commander, shortblock, gasket kit, bolts/studs
I'd like to do headers and the K-member while the engine is out, but that will take plenty of extra funds

eh, i could boost it for what, $3-4k, but that amount of power (350-400ish) would keep me satisfied for oh, 2 weeks at the most. my clutch would die from it as well, so theres another $600 for a clutch/flywheel combo. then id still be bored with that amount of power, but if i wanted to add more boost id need to build the motor. so another 6k on a built motor and heads. ooh, now im at 500hp but guess what, the tranny didnt like that, so heres another 2500 down the shitter for a T56 6spd, and might as well get the rear ready, so another ~1000 for a almost unbreakable rear (31spline axles, eaton posi, 3.73's, etc).
and it would still be in the 12's. maybe 11's. and my car would no longer be reliable DD like it is now, so id have to get a beater or another DD, and it wouldnt be a POS so theres another car loan i dont need/want anymore.
my goal is to hit 12's with $4K invested in the car+mods, i dont really care if it looks like shit, as long as its fast and cheap and gets the job done. Reliability? dont need that either, its not my daily driver so if its on jacks 10 out of 12 months and only runs to the track and back, fine with me.
one day i might build up the GT, like, once its paid off, and i realize i cant use it as a trade in because it wont be worth what i want for it, so ill end up keeping it. maybe make it awesome for my son or something, but be able to adjust the tune/boost so he starts out with like 250ish hp in a setup capible of 600+ after i feel he is ready for it. dunno, well see, but from what i can tell, the GT isnt going anywhere for years to come.

waiting for a goddamn "Thermal Control Valve" that attaches to the thermostat housing, two vacuum lines go through it and it has something to do with the EGR system. other than that, it runs fine when i bypassed it and took it for a ride. still need to replace the drivers/passenger axles and ill probably replace the windshield as well, it has a crack that is sure to spread soon, and its right in my view, so its sorta annoying. not bad though 900$ for the car, 600$ to get it running, plus it has a multi-layer head gasket (same as a evo 4g63) and arp studs, so i can push almost 30psi through the motor now.
next is fuel/tuning, which will be around 1500$ after all is said and done (laptop+dsmlink, 255hlp, 1600cc injectors, regulator) and a ebay fmic, i plan on running the stock turbo to its limits, which should be good enough for 300ish to the wheels. im still in cahoots on which turbo i want to get, i really want a gt35r but thats almost entirely unnecessary for under 500whp. i might settle with a bullseye v-trim, which is alot cheaper and supports up to 500whp.
