Well as you guys see im in the process of getting my hatch fixed. Im also having some issues at my local board cause their telling me left and right the bolt should be 10 mm and so forth and well mine arent, they are 11 mm instead.

I tried calling Ford to see what they can tell me which is shit as usual since they dont make anything anymore for the car, Same went with Napa.


What I need is if someone can go remove a bolt, then tell me what size you used and if you can get a pic of the actual bolt itself so I can see if its even the same or not.

So I hope someone can do this for me esp on a 87-91 stang

Head size doesn't mean the bolt thread pattern/etc is different

As far as I remember mine was 11 MMr also

If it threads in its probably fine.. and unless your car was repainted (if these are the same bolts you are talking about) I'm pretty sure they're original?

There are thread gauges that can tell you what you need to know about the bolts...

yeah but I havent retapped the hole cause dont I need to know what size bolt? this whole damn thing is kinda confusing stupid bolts

They look to be the orgins. in my other thread (name of tool) you can see that the outside bolts dont go in all the way.

And why is there gotta be a tool for something like this for sheesh

I think im just gonna go to Napa and see if they can match them up or something

From the pictures, it looks like two of those bolts have screwed up threads... hard to tell though, might be reflections or shadows...

yeah i went back down and switched one of the better threaded bolts into the outside hole it went in a bit further and thats it still sticks out though.

probably because the messed up bolt messed up the threads inside and so forth A tap/die set or some new bolts couldn't hurt

And FYI, tap and die sets come with the thread selector gauges...

im gonna get a new set of bolts this weekend and see what happens.

I seen a kit at Sears for 60 bucks so I just might get that
