I am buying a set of the PI HEADS from a guy, he said they are complete but I need followers and lashes??? Are these expensive? Also, my car has 167,000 WELL MAINTAINED, highway miles, am I wasting time and money doing this PI swap? Can I get a good fast engine somewhere for relatively cheap???? Any help would be appreciated...

Just heads on the car wont make it fast either. You will wind up having to tear into the engine. You could build up a 5.0 for cheaper and it would make more hp/tq for less money~ but thats only if you want to go that route.

If I buy a 5.0 and build it up, or even if I just buy a low mileage 5.0..... will it be a direct fit or do I have to change mounts and buy harnesses and computers???? I don't have a lot of money to be throwing around... Or, someone has to know of a place to get a good high performance engine for cheap?

The car is FOR SALE, I havn't sold it, and I may not. I really want a truck for hunting season.... kinda hard to transport an Elk in a Mustang  But I like the car so much that I don't know  I have the bumpers off because I just ordered a black widow body kit too... Do you have the link to the forum where it says that, "I SOLD MY CAR?".... Cause that really makes me curious?

i dunno bout that. in this situation, just PI heads wont make much of a difference as much as a full PI Head/PI Cam swap combo would. i think 75% of the power gained from the full PI swap comes from the cams alone, which work better when paired with the PI heads than with the standard NPI heads.
i believe the followers/lashes are the pieces that hold the cam in place. not too sure but i think thats what they are referred to as. most likely if they are the parts that hold the cam in place then you could re-use the ones from your old heads.
btw if youre not going to do the full PI Head/Cam swap there really isnt much to be gained, maybe a few ponies and pulling power  but hardly worth the amount of work.

i dunno, you can try to find used PI cams, or you can get brand new ones from ford, or you can go a step above PI and get some VT Stage1 cams.

Well I don't want to spend to much as my car does have high miles... it was rebuilt but still??? I may look into the cam idea though...

i wouldnt worry about the mileage, if the compression checks out fine you are good to go, especially for a basically stock n/a package.

Sweet, yeah the compression checks out... the car runs like new! Anyways, how hard is it to change out the cam and heads with just me and a friend?

Yea, like he said, if your going to do the PI head swap atleast take the extra time and money to get a nice set of performance cams and maybe valves for your heads. Im not sure what they do to the PI heads besides adding the extra valves. If they dont port/polish it might as well get that done too.
And with those mods might as well open up your intake/exhaust with some nice headers or else an aftermarket intake manifold setup.

SCRAP ALL THAT, I just baught a 1998 Cobra Engine with only twenty five hundred original miles!!!! Get this... for a GRAND, 100% complete!
