The new top speed clocked on Radar in Virginia by a police officer is 140 set on the James River Bridge a few weeks back with two crotch rockets goin at it. I don't like street racing, esp. on a bike, but I was kinda shocked to hear only 140, the governor on my bike doesn't kick in till 186. Got any big numbers caught on Radar where your from?

I know of a guy who left police in arkansas. They never actually got a measure of his speed. There was a MS cop across the bridge who clocked him at 150 something as he was coming off the bridge. Once he got back on the 4 lane he sped back up.
They ended up catching him several hours later. The bike started overheating from so many rpms for so long. He was found in a random house's carport with a bike that was glowing red lol.

I've often wondered if a cop would bother chasing/calling it in if you came past at 200+. At that speed he can't even have a basic description of the car besides color and sound.

I've heard of officers just sayin to hell with it, If I were a cop and a person had the guts to take a bike past 200 or even 150-160 on the street, I'd just wanna shake the persons hand. lol

You have to remember one saying in speeding:
"You can't outrun Motorola."
But...as one of my friends always points out...
You can jam em.

No kiddin, I'm sure you've crossed the bridge and know how tempting it would be to open up on it. From what I understand the guys came off the elevated portion in the middle then opened up and by the time they were on the other side were up to 140.

that top speed is kinda weak, i've been clocked at 135, somehow, which i am still trying to figure out i didn't get a ticket or even a warning for, but i mean hell only 140mph, some HAS to have been clocked faster than that, i mean most bikes will do 160+ STOCK, i don't believe that the fastest speed clocked is 140, reported maybe but prolly not fastest clocked speed.
rule of thumb if your going more than 1xx on a bike your a dumbass if you stop

Wow, same here. We were there from 82 to 86 when my dad was stationed at Langley AFB. I want to go back someday. Of course, I was born in 81, so I really don't remember that much.

Street racing is almost always illegal and is always dangerous. Usually the only time they have legal street races is when there is no drag strip in town and too many people street race, so they have a time to street race legally. I would recommend finding your local track to race on, but depending on your race style(drag,or normal racing) there should be a fairly close track to you. There are MANY websites to tell you about the newest equipment so check several. I have a couple of good sources listed.I am not interested in it.

im sure having the funds to purchase said Lambo, he just laughed, and got another one (probably an even faster one, cause 162 is nothing for a lambo) and drove without a license.
id say its more than half, more like 95% of the time they dont bother, especially if they missed the plates as it sped off. mostly because you are more of a threat to yourself than others on a bike, there are exceptions but usually thats rule of thumb. nowadays with video cameras in all cruisers, they will just let you speed off and will replay the tape and dispatch a few blue suits to your address a day or two later, and carry you away with cuffs.

Cops here in FL aren't allowed to pursue, lucky for us . I've been clocked @ 182 by a friend who's a cop. My bike also has a speedohealer on it which records the last highest top speed, here's my latest...

Did your bike come with the speedohealer? I have heard of several people having this on their bikes but never knew if it came with it or had it put on or whatever.
