You know, I hate to say it, but they really are an S197 Bullitt.
Let's compare.
Both have "upgraded":
springs/shocks
exhaust
better interior
specific exterior differences than a stock GT
Shelby over the 01 Bullitt:
Carroll Shelby's name is on it
Hurst shifter
30ish hp over stock
+3 for the shelby
Bullitt over Shelby GT:
Upgraded intake manifold and throttle body
Special color for limited production
Subframe connectors
Upgraded 13 inch brakes in the front with Brembo rotor and PBR calipers
Rated at 10 hp over from ford(I have the window sticker to prove it) and a tad more tq low end
+5 for the Bullitt
*Flame suit on for things I may have missed*
And now pricing. This is where I get pissed off. I stopped by the ford lot and ran into brad. We looked at the window sticker on the Shelby GT and after the 15 fucking thousand dollar markup the car was over 47,000 dollars, almost exactly what Ford MSRP's the GT500. I bought they Bullitt brand new for 28,160 in 2001 which is exactly what MSRP was for the car. Now could someone explain to me where in fuck's name does Ford get off making this kind of price difference in 6 years. And could someone explain to me why it takes 15 grand in modifications for a CAI, exhaust, and some lowering springs with shocks/struts to match?????? I can't even justify the price for the Bullitt package, much less this BS. Another thing is, they call it a fucking "package" in the markup. HELLOOOOO dumbasses!!!!! It's not a package. In a way it's not even called a mustang anymore. Since the cars are sent straight to Shelby's plant, the VIN is changed to Shelby GT, not Shelby Mustang GT or Mustang Shelby. So, technically there is no add on after the factory. The car is just made like that, but yet the dealers find this as a way to slap on another 15 grand for profit.
Discuss.
P.S. I feel a little better now.

Ok. Let's go over this one more time.
Ford sets the MSRP. THAT IS IT. That's all they can do. Suggest a retail price. Hence, "Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price".
Stop blaming the cars and blame your shitty local dealerships instead.

It's called the shelby tax. It is the same as the saleen, roush, and steeda tax's. Once you add on another name, it costs a ton more to print the sticker out...all that extra ink takes money...so...they hit you with a hefty tax...and then the lowly "Fords" spend the rest of their days embarrassing the people that paid a ton more for the same car.

I wish Ford would set a top price based on area for each vehicle. I know they will not since the dealerships will have a fit due to it will be cutting down on the owners profit.

Ford needs to not put Shelby's name on their cars, and the markup wont be as bad.

95% of the markup would go away because there would be no reason to mark it up anymore. Just like in 03, a few tried the markup thing, most didn't even bother. The trend lasted only a short time once they saw them start collecting dust.
The only reason there is a markup on these POS's, is the Shelby moniker on them.

I told the salesman when Brad and I were there that I didn't see any justification that the GT500 had so much markup since it wasn't a limited production car and that the order sheets were already out for next year. He replied with,"You mean the KR's?", I said no, Ford has already said that they were releasing 8 to 10 thousand GT500's, and that they were only making about a thousand or so KR's.... He didn't like that at all.

on a side note, Bullitt's original post was made at the end of April about those Shelby GT's he went to look at, and guess what, they are still sitting on the lot with the $40+K price tag...hahaha
2007 Ford Mustang GT: $25,000
CAI/Suspension/Interior: $5,000
Shelby Name-plate Markup: $15,000
Shelby GT (used to be Mustang) sitting on the lot collecting dust 4 months later: PRICELESS
hahaha
$15,000 markups FTL

HELL'Z YEAH. They even got a white one over there now... Looks dam good but they will sit there, and sit there, because a car salesman cannot justify to a customer why they are paying over 40000 dollars for a mustang with a cold air intake, a shifter, some lowering springs, and some GT/CS parts Have you gotten time to go look and make fun of the front camber yet on those cars???

I got an E-Mail from the Ford Dealership up the block from me. They had two GT500, one is White with Vista Blue stripes, the other Vista with White stripes. With Navigation they were priced at $75,000+. This was a while ago. Tonight I get another E-mail, $10,000 off the one in Vista Blue, only one left on the lot.
I've also seen the Grabber Orange and it didn't look half bad, even the Grabber Orange GT looked nice though. The $25,000+ markup is not worth it, especially with NY prices/taxes/gas.
