Advice On New Clear Coat

Got the car back a few days ago. The paint shop tells me not to wash or wax the car for 30 days  Any input will be greatly appreciated !! I can't go that long without washing the car

yeah its better to be safe then sorry, thing is most clear coats arent 100% fully dry till that one month period. Even after a bake, washing and waxing can help clog those "pores" and prevent it from drying the correct way.
You can do it

Yeah, I wouldn't wash it for a while. Maybe not an entire month... But definitely don't wax until at least a month. If you wash it, wash it in Dawn or something similar that has no wax. |

If they did their job and cured the paint job its good to go the day you pick it up. Some shops cant afford that kind of thing or the time to do it so they just tell you to not mess with it for a month so it can cure over time slower.

Even good shops require a wait time before a wash and wax. It takes the paint a little while to fully, properly, cure... |

I think his point is...washing with dawn will remove the wax that isn't on the car yet...it's kind of a pre-emptive wax removal or something...in case there is wax floating around in the air like pollen or something. |

it all depends.
if the shop did post-prep (wetsanding, etc), they probably applied their own wax. but then again a shop that goes that far is probably going to stick it in the oven overnight a few times during the post-prep process to ensure its properly done and is in the same condition going to the customer as if they were buying it off the lot brand new.
however there are some shops that dont do any post-prep. if the car went from the oven to de-stripping to you, then yeah, the clear probably has not been on the car for more than a day or two, so likely they will tell you not to wash it for a week, and not to wax it for however long they feel.
from my research, clearcoats take a month or so for the chemicals or whatever to "evaporate", and putting wax over them will seal in the stuff and can shorten the longevity of the paint/clear.
btw yes, if they told you not to wax the car, then likely there is 0 wax on it because the clear is still setting. use DAWN if you are going to wash it, or use any automotive soap that does not contain any additional waxes, as most car wash formulas contain wax in them to enhance the post-wash "shine", so if you wash your car with a formula that has wax, youre still going to be putting wax onto the surface, which may or may not harm the clear.
