alright as some of you know, i've gotten some work done and converted my auto to stick. I have only one complaint. Reverse. It seems to grind no matter what i do.. How could i correct this? If i got a short throw shifter would it cure it? I dont know if its the tranny, we had a 92 gt a while back and it did the same thing. Well my setup came off of a car with "38k" miles on it, it was an 90 gt vert. I must say though, I'm one happy camper with the five speed swap, this thing hauls some ass! i will have pic up shortly.

Reverse in a T5 is gonna grind. I think they are designed to do that so you don't accidentally put it in reverse without getting the pleasure of a horrible sounding grind. Because that would be terrible.
I used to always do the 1-5-1-R shuffle when putting mine in reverse. It seems to help.

ahhh, snap!!!...i lost another automatic comrad to those cursed t-5's...lmfao....lol, i thought the reverse grind was normal...i see more cars with reverse grind than without...especialy cars with newer clutches...i'm not a t-5 or manual trans guru by any means...and most likely have to ask all u guys on here how to change a clutch if i had one.

I would love to see a t-5 go straight in reverse. If I could find one, I'd buy and I'd put it on display at borg warner
I just stick it third, roll forward, then it pops right in. My wife can put it and third and it goes in reverse right after that almost every time. Then again, her first manual was a T-5 so she has me on experience.

if you have to push your clutch in really hard to get it to go into reverse without grinding then your clutch is not adjusted right and you need to take some of the slack out of it.

reverse doesn't have any syncro, but shares some of the gears that 1rst uses, if you sync the gears in first and then go to reverse your odds of not grinding are greatly improved.
