I understand this might be bit off topic but I'm sure you guys might have some suggestions. My brother owns a 2000 3.0l v-6 lincoln ls and he's having a problem with revolutions. It redlines at about 6000 and when he gets on the freeway trying to accelerate to a cruising speed of about 70 he has problems. I'm not sure if he's got four or five gears but it seems like he can't get it to go into the last gear. When he hits about 50mph and accelerating more not hard just easy acceleration rpms jump from 2500 to 4500 like it dropped a gear yet there is not pull in power. It also heats up sometimes. Something is f***ed up.
Best we can come up with was the transmission. We tried changing the tranny oil but it's got no dipstick in top of engine bay. The manual says to take it to authorized mechanics. Someone else said it was needing hydraulic fluid for the engine fan. My brother checked that out and said levels were low so he added that and it hasn't heated since. There's all kinds of lights like check engine and other lights I don't know what they mean on the dashboard. Anything would help.

Most cars don't have a drain plug for the transmission. You just have to pull the whole pan off and get ready to wear some fluid. Refill it and then see if that helps. But if all kinds of lights are on, I'd take it to the dealer and see what codes come up on the scan tool. That's I know to tell you.

Well I have a feeling it something inexpensive to fix and selling now is hardly an option for him. They can't be much worse than the mustang they were made by same company.

No it's an automatic. Some guy at a local shop told him that he had to go to a ford dealership or specialty shop to check the tranny oil I think you check it w/ a machine or from underneath.
