My Mustang has the CD player on the bottom of the dash (the radio is on top and CD Player on bottom) and I used the din tool to remove just the CD player and left the radio intact. All the websites...InstallDr and others only give me instructions for the radio removal but not the CD Player. I'd like to leave the radio in and just swap CD player. Has anyone done this that can tell me the connectors I need to finish the job. I know it's possible because my cousins set up is like this but I can't reach him.
So...you want to leave the radio and replace the cd player?
Do you still want the radio to work? I really don't know of a way this would be possible.
If you just want to leave the factory radio in the top din that doesn't work and put an aftermarket in the bottom, it's easy. Just do the installation instructions for the top din in the bottom and use all the same connectors.

Instead of my original plans I just sllid the radio to the next slot down and installed the DVD/CD player in the top slot. It was a breeze, just a 20 dollar adapter and viola. The radio doesn't work but it's just a space filler until I find an adapter kit to convert into a storage bin. I'd like to find one with a door on it. If anyone has heard of something like that let me know.
