Will not start when hot

I have 93 5.0 that runs great (mostly factory). Problem is, once I cut it off it will not start back up until it has completely cooled down. Even when I get gas I have to leave it running becuase if I turn off the car it will not start back up. I've replaced just about everything under the hood (coil, wires, plug, dist cap, dist module, O2 sensors, etc, etc). I've read a few things about this problem but most threads seem to be about 5.0's cutting off while driving. Do I need to wrap the fuel lines with installation or is something else going on? I've just replaced the convt top, windsheild and carpet and now I this pain in the *** problem...

Are you running after market headers ?? My buddys used to do the same thing the starter was getting hot from the headers. He wrapped the headers and solved the problem

i'd also replace the whole distributer and not just the TFI module.
the thing to do would be to run it, let it get hot and then test it.

it will always be one of these things

1. car has jumped timing (highly unlikely)
2. car is getting insuficant fuel (unlikely)
3. car is getting insuficant spark (unlikely)
4. car is getting insuficant compression (highly unlikely)
5. engine is not turning over fast enough during start trial

What about a dirty air filter. I have seen that a few times when I worked at a full serve station.

Replace the starter. My 91 GT used to do the same damn thing. It would crank fine when cold, but would barely turn over when it got hot. Heat soak is a starter's worst nightmare.

yeah its starter... when its hot it won't work

Weird thing... It spins over but just doesn't fire. But it doesn't spin over all the time. I think I go with replacing the starter and see about getting a heat shield also. Thanks for the replys/advise. I'll get a starter this weekend and post an update.

I'm running BBK long tubes, and mine cranks very slowly when it's hot. I'm going to have to wrap my headers.
