My buddy let me go with him on a photo shoot with his new BMW 335i (Twin turbo, 300hp AWD) and he let me shoot some pics with his Canon Rebel (Retail goes for around 600-700 bucks) with the stock lens. I took a lot, and I told him to send the best ones. Unfortunately with all the scratches and the dirt it accumulated after just ONE day after I washed it, it ruined a lot of the nicer shots I thought I had. Well, here are the three that came out the best. Next time I'm taking with me a spray bottle full of water and a lint free towel.
Camera is fucking great, I really want one. Highly recommend those Canon Rebels!

I heard good shit about Nikon's though, but after handling a Canon and getting used to the features, it gives Canon an edge over my buying decision than the Nikon.
I spent half an hour talking to a professional photographer who works for Universal Studios and he really loves the Nikon's quality over the Canon's

^ I love my Nikon point-and-shoot and have also spent a good amount of time behind a Nikon D50 (DSLR) and it is awesome. Really, you probably couldn't go wrong with Nikon or Canon.

see my photo under my name....
I use nikon, my GF uses Canon (she has a 30D) but the Rebel is ok, the XTi is better. If you want something that is easy to use then get a Nikon D40 or D40x (same price scale of the canon.) We have the XT with a 18-55 kit lens for $699 right now ( I work at Cord Camera right now)

Also , rule of some photographers.. Canon = sports or fast shots.. nikon is a slower camera, the D200 and D2hx is only a 3 frames per sec. vs the 30D canon is a 5 frames. I have used a D50, D80 the new D40 and a little bit with a D100. they are both good camera's...

I'm looking mostly for something that can do.. really detailed close up shots. Like flowers for example.
Also looking for something that can do great landscape shots.
I'm not big on getting fast sporty shots I guess :P But it'd be nice.
