This thing is pretty bad ass. It would probably put some of those Russian fighters to shame as it can do some pretty crazy maneuvers. I'm sure that the SU-47 would match or better its maneuverability though, but IDK.
maneuverability wise the SU27 is its only competition. too bad the rest of the SU27 pails in every other aspect to the F22. but i wouldnt worry, aside from the RAF or the israeli air force, we still control the skies. a single F22 can decimate entire squadrons and never even be spotted, let alone an entire squadron of F22's or a mixture of F22, F117's and B2's, which would be enough firepower and stealth to level most countries without ever being noticed until the bombs dropped. America rules the skies, and every country knows that, which is why our generation will never have any air battles. plus the closest air forces to us are still on our side.
name another plane that is in service now that can do what the F22 does?
and to answer your question, i did know. actually i knew of the dinosaur raptors being called utah raptors and theyre alot smaller than the movie velociraptors, and they had feathers. plus my dad bought the F22 game for Sega Genesis, and he works for lockheed martin.

Well first of all I don't think any plane currently serving right now is as maneuverable as a F-22. But I would say a Eurofighter and more modern versions of the SU-27(SU-30, SU-35, SU-37) are better suited to compete with a F-22 in terms of maneuvering than a SU-27. BTW my dad was a pilot in the Air Force for over 20 years, and I use to know a F-15 pilot that helped design the canopy for the F-22. But this is a gay argument so lets stop.
Pretty awesome, maybe I will be working on them one day
As for Raptor: No, before JP they were more commonly called Deinonychus' with Velociraptor being a much less commonly discussed relative. I only started noticing larger amounts of info on raptors AFTER JP. But yes, they were about half the movie size.

lol yeah cockpit discussions and gay go hand in hand.
No, its just that if you read the comments on youtube all the people are siding with either the F-22 or SU-47(which is just some prototype that will probably not make it to production) about which is more manuveurable and which would win in a dogfight. Their like the ultimate computer nerds and are making comments like "SU-47's are uber bad ass. F-22's suck shit and arent manuveurable because their stealth." I was reading it and thiking how stupid and gay they sounded. Some of them were even retarded enough to compare the F-22 to the F-117. Thats why I was suggesting we don't argue about this. It would make us look like them.
lol but the difference being we know better and will only argue our points with valid explanations and facts.
besides, we know the likelyhood of a F22 going in a actual dogfight is slim to none, we own the skies. we know from the californian coast when a cessna takes off in japan. we know when a kid in russia is playing with model rockets. we have a single plane that can take out an entire squadron without them knowing of its presence, and we have the ability to keep that plane in the air 24/7. and we have way way more of them where that came from, so if anyone did get lucky enough to shoot one down, its likely it would get raped by 10 more that are equally as pissed off.
They should make a new Top Gun movie with F-22s. I would say they should make sure all the homo stuff is left out of a new movie, but this thread is already worse than any beach volleyball ass slapping and locker room whitie tighty shots could ever be.
The F-22 is stealth and wouldn't even need to maneuver if it did. Russians don't have Stealth technology. F-22 owns the sky .
The F117 is in the process of being decommissioned. Too expensive and too old to keep in service. They're really just a culmination of other aircraft. Landing gear from an F-15, engines from an F-18... It's really just 1970's technology, with sharp angles and a goo that covers the plane that makes it more stealth.
The F-22 is just plane easier to maintain. The only thing you have to do in a preflight, BPO, etc. is physical appearance. If anything else breaks, there are sensors that send information to the main computer(think ECU), sends info to laptop, laptop sends info to QAE/COMBS/etc., and even orders it's own parts when something breaks.
The fact that maneuvarability(spellcheck ) is even an issue..... Oh wait, it's not. The F-22, with it's thrust vectoring, and engines powerful enough to supercruise at MACH 1.7(that means no burner), is more limited by what the pilots can handle, than the airframe itself. I just don't see anything that could compare. If I had to say anything, it would be the Eurofighter, and only because of it's size. Don't get me wrong the F-22's are big, but any fighters the Reds put out are ALWAYS big. Not saying that they can't put engines in it to make up for it, but as far as autocrossing with aircraft go, the F-22 is a Mazda Miata, and whatever the Russians put out would equate to a Ford Lightning.

The F-22 won't own the sky for too long though...that is if the JSF ever gets finished...
You know we(well Lockheed Martin) did that one, too. Notice the similarity in the lines as an F-22? Plus it doesn't have the power the 22 has either, nor the thrust vectoring. Hell, the F-22 can almost cruise without afterburner(MACH 1.72) as the 35 can with burner(MACH 1.8). The 22 also has another 800 miles in range than the 35.
And the first JSF flew back in December of last year .

The F22 is an air superiority fighter. The Joint Strike Fighter is, well, a strike fighter. The F22 will still own the skies...but the JSF will be pounding rag heads on the ground.
