Well, the bad news came from the shop where my car is, and its not in the valve train, so its something in the lower end. Said he didnt know for sure, but that its probably a rod or bearing somehwere in there. I initially was gonna sell the car, but I think Im gonna rebuild it and go with a 331 or 347 stroker... leaning more towards the 347.
Any thoughts, comments, suggestions?

I dunno maybe someone can touch on this but arent you gonna put that Kennebell on once you have the full kit?
wouldnt going with a 331/347 be a bad move esp since you wanna go with FI?

What I've pieced together of the KB is going to be sold to help fund the rebuild.

and monte, I've thought about the 331 also... what all is involved in that? I feel like either way my gt40 heads are going to restrict my air flow pretty bad, but i cant afford some nice aluminum heads right now...

One day I shall buy a car that originally came with an LS1 and throw a Ford motor in it.
Anyway I would go with a 347 as my favorite # is 734. A machine at a truck stop told me that that was my lucky number.

Zim, I'm using the GT40 heads still.. It's not a high revving HP freak but its got a sweet torque curve..

The only thing you have to watch out for on a 347 is that there is more rod angle and it will wear out piston pins and rod bearings quicker....i would go with a 331 but thats just my opinion

BAH these stock block 302 buildups. Grab you a roller 351 and bore and stroke it. Just need a set of heads to go with it and should just be some change more expensive than a 347. Everything else you have will work with it. Even if you are on a budget and absolutely have to use GT40's, you'll still have a better base to make power.
I've just never understood why anyone would mess with a 302 block, when everything from a 351 will work on it just the same. More displacement= more power in the long run. Plus the 351's are good for 650 ish hp where as stock block 302's are only good for 500 ish.
