I found a fox body that I'm looking to pick up for a very nice price (probably a direct trade for a 1996 Toyota 4-runner with 161k miles and some front body damage).
it does have some exterior problems, most of which could be fixed with a good paint job. the engine appears to be in very very nice shape and runs and drives quite well. The driver's side quarter panel was replaced because of some damage that happened when a ladder of some sort was dropped on it. To my knowledge it has been in no crashes and it has a clean title.
I'd like some folks to look at the pics of the engine to see if ya'll can see any thing wrong that i'm missing or any modifications that might have been done that I dont know about (as I am not very familiar with the 5.0 engine)
edit: forgot to mention that the current owner picked it up from an older person and did some engine work. it has 33k original miles.
below are some pics taken of it (sorry one is real fuzzy)

Actually not too bad for what you are trading for it. Just needs some cleaning up, like getting rid of all that red hose and red wire covering under the hood. Those wheels even look familiar. I'd say go for it, but be ready to find some things wrong and some possible hidden gremlins.
and last but not least PORNO INTERIOR FTMFW.
Porno interior is what us fox body enthusiasts call that red interior. Bright red, can't miss it

Get it, the motor looks pretty clean, like the person took care of it. Or else they just pressure washed everything!
How does she drive and sound?

Anyone notice how the air compressor line that you usually see going over the top back of the upper intake and over to the air compressor is missing??? any input on this?
This is my friend at work, I am trying to convert him and get him into a mustang lol.

Well I'll be.... Yup, actually I don't see any lines going to the A/C. I bet the car is a motor swap car or they pulled the AC, raced the car, and now putting it back together as a seller.

Eh thats usual used car shopping things to check for. Didnt think it needed it. I would however get a magnet and check that whole driver side for bondo.

when i test drove it, it cranked and sounded quite nice.. nice strong beastly sounding roar. sounded close to what SpectorV's mustang sounds like but not quite as loud.
How difficult is it to replace the hoses that run from the AC? I'm pretty sure I could do it myself if it isnt that difficult. That is one reason why I want one of these type vehicles is because I could probably work on it. A lot easier to work on than some jap vehicles and no need to do upkeep on a turbo.

i'd rather have a 4-8 swapped car anyways... at least that way the battle box's probably aren't fucked up.
oh and i'd definetly upkeep a turbo on that car... you think a jap car is badass with a turbo, just wait till you strap it to some detroit muscle

We went back to look at it today. The tranny is having issues as 3rd is going out and the condition is a bit worse than you would expect for a car with 34k miles. It is a pass, we will keep looking for him another one.

Well keep that in mind, I will have this account for the next 55 days or so.
I have been looking into getting an mr2 for the mileage and handling capabilities.
