Need Help ASAP - Latch Issues

Im in the middle of re-installing the latch on my hatch back on the fox. Whats screwing me up is that little middle piece that goes into the end of the lock cylinder and the latch.

My question is how do I install that piece cause theres a "hook" end and a straight end, like what side goes where?

I need to get this on by tonight since its going out for repairs tomorrow morning.
