Okay Okay...Now that we have your attention, let's get real with these impressive numbers. We took our 2005 Mustang GT over to our friends at A&A Corvette Performance to get an independent dyno run on their DynoJet 224. What we got was something even you weekend drag strip warriors could do without breaking the bank. Here's how we did it...
* 100% Stock OEM engine
* Vortech High Output T-Trim Tuner Kit with Vortech 8-rib pulley drive upgrade pushing 17 psi
* Replacement high-flow injectors and replacement high-flow in-tank fuel pump
* JBA Headers and JBA Exhaust
* Race Fuel
* Re-gapped OEM spark plugs (modified with Vortech spark plug gapping tool)
* Vortech custom ECM tune using DiabloSport? Predator (conservative timing values; greater HP numbers are attainable with a more aggressive calibration)
* MRT fuel rails
* Addition of ice in the charge cooler reservoir (Cheap insurance for the stock pistons, something you can't do with an air-to-air charge cooler)

umm. i was under the assumption even a 3V modular is still limited to the same bottom end woes as us 2V guys, which is pretty much at or around 450ish, and our motors didnt like much more than ~12psi under the best conditions.
17psi and 550whp? is it me or does this just sound severly stretched? methinks that motor wont last long. i mean, i know its a 3V and it can flow more than a 2V, but hell, even 4V mach1's cant go past the 450ish barrier.
if im wrong and the 3V are somehow different in terms of power handling, i might have to reverse my thinking on them.
btw my buddy brought this thread to my attention (he drive a SRT4 and loves bashing the tards on that site) and even hes like "i dont think so" on the above post.

Very VERY far fetched... That is more of what I like to call a "hero run." Kind of like the hero that rescues the kids from the burning building, but dies trying to save the last one when the building collapses, yeah.... I have heard that the motors would survive with 475 ish hp at the wheels(assuming dyno jet dyno), but I'm not to knowledgeable of the 3V other than their INSANE headflow.
On the other hand the numbers do sound about right. A friend of mine has a 99 4v cobra and puts 450 ish at the wheels with a mustang dyno (he has an 8.5 comp motor with forged internals) which is easily over 500 on a dyno jet. Has a Novi 2200, longtubes, custom intercooler, full aeromotive fuel system, and a diablo piggyback for tuning. Oh, and that was with 12 lbs.

yeah but the 01 cobras are a little stronger than a standard GT's 2V/3V 4.6L correct? i think the only difference between the 01 cobra and 03/04 is the crank and slightly higher flowing heads on the termies.
is the 3V that good? i mean, you say Insane headflow, is that sarcastic? i was under the impression that while yes, 3 valves are better than 2, its still no 4V, which is why the mach1 makes what, like 320 something if i recall as opposed to the 3v 300hp and the 2v 260hp

Terminators also have a stonger cast iron block than the WAP block(not as stock as a Teksid block though) that the 01 Cobras have, they have forged pistons, Manley rods. Both have forged cranks and I'm not sure theres a difference between them.
I have seen where people are making well over 500 whp with stock bottom end 3 valves, but I don't think a stock 3 valve motor will handle anywhere near 17 psi.

The GTs are limited to 450 to be safe and even that might be pushing it a bit just depending on how good the tune is along with how you take care of it and in what conditions the car is driven.
you have to remember the GT has high compression, the 03/04 cobra has 8.5:1 compression.

thought i read the gt's were something like 9.8:1?
but i assume were all coming to the same conclusion, that 550whp with 17psi on a 3V GT is pretty far fetched or wont last long.......

5-6 psi non-intercooled = approx 375-400 rwhp - done very easily and very common
8-10 psi intercooled = approx. 450 rwhp - Done pretty frequently and safely
12-14 psi = approx. 500 rwhp - Has been done a few times with pretty good success rate (maybe 50-60%ish), with 14 psi being about the max for having any kind of bottom end engine life
>15 psi = can be done, but is stock engine suicide...I say he gets maybe 2000 miles out of that setup in normal conditions...maybe 3-4 passes down the strip if he is lucky...

The race fuel is helping a little, but it wont last like that. It is kinda like Justin's stock block V6 running 17psi. He is a pro tuner, and the car only sees a few track appearances to my knowledge.
