This is not the way to go about conserving oil. All this is going to do is like Thomas said ... is kill the auto industry, and not just domestics. As much as I hate the thought of paying more for gas, I believe that is the way to help get rid of the problems we are encountering. Tax gas more. We need to create a paradigm shift for the consumer not the industry. If gas is expensive more consumers will want more fuel efficient cars. If consumers want more fuel efficient cars, the industry will supply them. This would help lower the price of cars too. If the industry doesn't have to spend shit tons of money trying to meet these bogus regulations with all there cars, then they can focus on using that money to create better technologies for there fuel efficient ones. I think this solution benefits everyone. The car industry will create better cars because thats what people will want, but in the same sense they will also be able to create performance and specialty vehicles for the consumers who are willing to have them.

They need to stop fuckin with the auto Industry and go after the oil company If the oil company would stop with all the BS reason to jack up the gas prices We would not need those regulation for high gas mileage cars,SUV etc.

I don't think gas price has anything to do with their reasoning for these regulations. They want to conserve fuel not make it more readily available to use as much as we want without thinking of the consequences.

Well something has to change, as much as we hate it, heck I guess soon we will all be driving more cars like the Germans or The Big Three will be paying alot of extra on traffis and such driving the prices even higher. Forced induction will be the way they go even more so in the future but there is still no replacement for displacement or a empty wallet from filling up

This is such a contradictory statement. E85 actually makes the vehicle less efficient, therefore, you will get less mpg using E85 over normal gasoline. I wish some people in Congress would learn what the hell they are debating over.

If this passes, we should require all Congressmen to drive vehicles that get over 80mpg since they are all about setting these standards. I think they should start setting an example for us.

O yeh...no more airplane flying either, that's so inefficient. Airplanes account for over 10% of global air pollution. So there ya go Mr/Mrs Congressman, set an example and we will follow..........in a car.

yes but what if i dont want to own a 35+mpg car that cant even get out of its own way?

im all for higher economy cars, especially if you do alot of driving then yeah, its probably best you do it in something that isnt a 15mpg suv. but to impose standards that means everyone has to drive fucking econoboxes is asinine.

Now I am with you my parents had alot of econo crap and I always swore I would roll in V8's which I am right now. And well all know politicans wont quit flying no matter how much they say they love the enviroment nor will they stop driving SUV's. Nor am I for imposing things on those whom wouldnt want them I am sure as heck for lowering the fuel prices for our V8's.
