I spent a couple of hours working on the mustang today, pulled the intake and the tranny out in preparation to pull the engine. I blew the motor a couple of months back and am going to run a stroker kit to turn my 4.6 into a 5.0 that can rev higher and take much more boost. I'm hoping to get some more torque out of the deal and tons more hp once I do some work on the heads...
Where did the intake go!?
Oh, there it is...
It was fun having this thing on my chest...
whoops, fixed

putting all of the wires and vacuum fittings back together will be interesting. I'd like to get rid of a bunch of the vacuum lines, I know I'll ditch the EGR.

Wait, if you're sticking with the stock block, it won't take much more punishment than just a stock internal'd 4.6...... I would guess if you make more than 475-500 whp on that stock block, you will be on borrowed time.

I may keep the block itself, but upgrading the rotating assembly.. and the block will handle well over 500 rwhp with ease.

If you plan on driving it hard and/or powershifting or anything tough, I give it 2 years before you split the block, main girdle or not.

Yeah, you should run some nitrous on it to make it more reliable.

the modular block is really strong, the blocks are not the cause of failure, it is bad tunes or low quality internals. now a pushrod 5.0 will tend to split the block with a lot of power, but the modular block is very dependable. I don't know where you are getting your information but you may want to try another source.

This isn't a 302 he's talking about. Its actually a very stout block from the factory. Can you even buy an aftermarket modular block that isn't built by Ford? Look at all the power that people are making with Cast Iron Mod blocks in 03/04 Cobras and GT500s. "ALL" Mod block are pretty stout, even the WAP's blocks found in the 01 Cobras (and I assume the Mach 1's) have been know to handle a lot of power.
