If you have an Auto you can tell the difference when they firm up your shift points. It's night and day.

I wouldn't make it a top priority in that case no. Not till you get into the engine.

The S197 ECU's are much more sensitive and a lot more can be achieve from a CAI and tune for thr v6's than the previous models. That really only goes for the v6's though. For the GT's, just a CAI and tune won't do a whole heck of a lot of difference. In order to make the tune worth it's cost, it would be better to do the tune in conjuction with several mods such as CAI, full exhaust, pulleys, blah, blah...but where you run in to trouble is that because the ECU is so sensitive, you basically need to retune the car with every mod you do, no matter how small it may be. so its much more cost effective to buy a whole bunch of parts if you can wait to do so and get the car tuned all at once. The v6's have a lot more room to grow with the "one at a time" mod method where as the GT's need quite a few things done before you can see a significant performance increase...

IMO it was well worth it !!!! I have a 93 tune from VMP and could feel the differant Plus the little things the tune does like raised the rev limiter to 6,000, removed the MPH limiter, A/C cuts out when I go WOT, corrected the annoying RPM not dropping issue, corrected the speedo for the 3:73 gears

There alot you can do !!!! But nothing you need to do .Your off to a great start You might look into a UDP, maybe full exhaust ,it all depends what you want from the stang and how deep your pockets are

No deep pockets here but eventually, I will replace my magnaflow muff with a catback. Plenum here, cobalt wires there, I don't want it sooooooped up, just sweet!! So far, I love the exhaust, excellent rumble and the tune and cai have made a major diff now. I get so many comps on my exhaust. People can't believe I'm getting that from a 6. And of course my custom grille. When I put my 17's bullitts on, really made an appearance diff.......next minor mod.....black spoiler, black hood stripe, and maybe on the side (boss like). Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Just an update on my CAI! I'M STILL LOVING IT!! I don't know why I didn't get it sooner! I highly suggest for anyone that has a 6. Believe it or not, pre CAI, I haven't been able to chirp gears. The other night coming home from my cruise in, I chirpped 2nd. So you know, now I wanna chirp 3rd...LOL! Pretty cool! Haven't noticed any gas mileage change yet, but when I put the CAI in, I had 1/2 tank. I just filled up the other day so hopefully, next week when I fill up, I will see some kind of change. If not, oh well, at least I have more hp!!
