hey guys. need some input. i'll be looking at 2 gt's tomorrow. first is a 87 gt for 2500.00. suppossed to be a good lookin ride, but, for 2500 i'm not expecting a whole lot. the second is a 88 gt. car has been garaged kept. suppossed to be almost showroom condition. 5500.00 for this one. both 5 speeds. any info i need to take with me when i go? specific rust areas, things missing/altered in the engine bay etc. would appreciate your input on this. thanks guys..

The 88 sounds like a good car for 5500 if it's what they say it is. Keep us up to date.

I know my 83 is bad on the inside-bottom of the driver's side door, and I'm starting to find a couple of bubbles around the wheel wells, which is a pretty common area. I'd also crawl under the car with a flashlight and take a look around areas where the rear bumper is attached to the frame. It's another pretty common rust area I've found that most people don't really look at.

The pretty common that the good ol T5s don't always like to go directly into reverse if you don't know already - if you don't though, it's not a big deal, just have to shift it into first or 5th and then go back to reverse and it should slide right in.

Basically you can pay less for not as nice of a car and spend the extra you saved and the time needed to get it back into the condition of the more expensive car. I personally would get the nicer better condition and better taken care of vehicle. You are just asking for less issues and troubles if you do overall.

for what to check just go over every inch of it including under the vehicle. If it all looks good and is taken care of then you shouldnt have much to worry about.
