Looking to charge my car?

Well I have a 00' GT and just recently got some extra money from my job, not a crap load but enough and I wanted to make my car louder and faster. Without redoing the entire engine, so what are some average costing things to do to gain as much speed as possible or to make it any bit louder. Oh by the way I know pretty much nothing about it so that's why I'm asking.

Louder...you could go with a new cat back and/or off road mid pipe. Something like Borla is going to set you back a good bit for a cat back (~$650), but it will sound kick ass. You could also consider Magnaflow (~$450) or flowmasters...but if you have it, try to get something other than flowmasters.
For power, you could go with an SCT tuner (~$379) with some canned tunes for the stock motor. This will help you pull some more ponies out without going nuts...probably 20-30 on average.
You could also go with a set of gears. You could move up from your stock 3.27's to a 3.73 (if you are manual) or 4.10's (if you are an auto).
If you are an auto,...a tuner is really going to give you a great kick in the pants feel because it will really firm up your shifts and get the car shifting more aggressively.
For minimal power, you could go with a cold air intake or K&N drop in air filter. It will run you about $50 for the filter or ~150 for the CAI. This will get you maybe a couple of ponies.
You could also think about some under drive pulleys. Those will give you a couple horsepower increase and will also improve your gas mileage a little as well.
Beyond that, you will probably be move into something more expensive to add power. But this would be a nice little start and they are all things you could do at home...except the UD Pulleys unless you have the proper pulley puller tools.

mufflers on 05+'s dont seem to make as much of a sound difference than pre 05s

nah, it has to do with the way the motor is put together or the way the headers and stock h-pipe are put together...the mufflers really dont do much on the 05's to be honest...they do make a difference at higher RPM's, but at the low end of the power band, the mufflers dont really do a whole lot of "muffling"...the difference in sound with no mufflers at all versus stock mufflers really isn't what you would think it might be, unless you are turning 5 or 6 grand...

Then get a real exhaust and not chokemasters.

Yeah, you're right. He could gain a whole 1.5 hp with some crappy sounding straight through mufflers.

20-30 HP gain with a tuner is VERY generous unless its an 05+ GT
Best bangs for buck -- full exhaust, 4.10 gears and a set of drag radials for daily driving...

I think it's a little high even for an 05+GT

Hmm...well...when I get the sheets in I will let ya check them out...custom tune for 93 vs stock tune for 87 has lots of room for improvement. Hell, Kyle's V6 picked up about 10-15...
Several of cody's 05+ GTs are picking up 30+ with CAI and tune...
I agree though, gears and exhaust will be the best bang for the buck. Not much actual gain, but the seat of the pants feel will be great.
If you do decide on gears...let me know...I have a good hookup for Ford Racing gears at near cost prices.

I just got a 01 GT myself, and am having a set of MagnaFlow installed tomorrow, I wouldnt go with FlowBastards again, had them once before and they are just to raspy sounding at higher RPM's. I would strongly suggest Borla as mentioned, but you can get them from a company called 21st Century out of Florida for like $425 shipped normally or find someone thats local to you that might actually be a dealer.
I have installed a K&N Filter the other day someone gave me from work and I feel the increase a little bit already, you dont need to spend tons to tweak these cars. They respond well to changes as the 03-04 Cobras do.
You might wanna consider a under drive pulley or something along those lines, or cams.
