Something on our server keeps failing and crashing the server. I don't know if it is one of the two CPU's in it, ram, or harddisk. The error log is pointing to some kind of hardware issue. I am working with the host now to find out what the problem is.
No idea how much the site will be down today but expect some kind of downtime. I will do my best to monitor the site and restart the server if that happens.

I've been wondering why it keeps cutting out.
Hope you've done your backups.

I know another forum were some hacker planted a virus or something and screw up the site for a while. Could that be the problem?

No. It's more than likely bad ram.

Everything seems to have stabilized right now. I ran an update check and saw there was a new kernel released. Upgraded the kernel so we will see where that goes.

I'm not sure that's an option, though, since Brent doesn't have physical access to the hardware. Memtest does still require it to be installed on a boot disk, right?

The host themselves can do the hardware tests. If it goes down again they will start checking all the hardware.

Not really because don't they have to guarantee x amount of up time? I know godaddy does...specially for accounts like brent has...and not some dingleberry account hosting 2 html pages.
