Ok so here it is.
I'm looking for a good dual exhaust system for my 01 stang. I don't want it to sound all ricy like someone just punched a baby but I don't wanna break myself paying a fortune for good sounding exhaust. Can y'all help me out with experience and maybe sound clips if you have them.
P.S. JEGS has a dual system for $194.99 but I'm not sure how they sound. Wondering if anyone has had any experience with JEGS exhaust systems at all.
Thanks

Look for something that's not straight through. You will want a buffled muffler. Also, keep your cats if possible, removing them will only cause it to sound worst.

I hear a lot of people say that flowmasters are barely better than stock? True? or False?

My opinion is flows are worse than stock...but I am biased...because I think flows are pieces of garbage....I have seen too many of them water down the dyno from condensation...rusted out from the inside out...and the fact that I Haven't talked to a shop that recommended them for anything other than trying to get something dirt cheap.

No other suggestions really...and I haven't seen any jegs.
For a V6...I don't have a lot of suggestions. I know my stock 03 cobra mufflers sound good on Kyle's car....and stock GT cat backs seem to be popular.
My main suggestion would be like was stated...avoid something that is straight through...it will sound not so good...
We are about 80% v6 owners here...so I'm sure you will get some good suggestions....

Don't worry about exhaust gains/losses until you are putting down some real power. Right now, adding exhaust will give you a grand total of 2 hp at the wheels. You won't notice any difference I promise.

You should go to a site like youtube or something and type in mustang v6 *insert whatever muffler here* and just look through the clips until you find one that you like.

I'm not worried so much about gains and losses as much as I am sound. I want my stang to sound good. I will put power in later. Has ANYBODY had experience with JEGS exhaust?

I'm assuming that Jegs uses Dynomax mufflers. I know they sounds good on Corey's car.

I have a Pypes exhaust system on my stang. It sounds decent, got compliments from guys driving modded cobras, and they knew it was a six(lol). They make a true dual system and a bolt on system, all depends on how much work/money you want to spend. I personally would recommend the true dual, with a welded h-pipe. Just a suggestion though, some like pypes, others don't.

The six is an even fire motor, it will never sound as good as an odd fire V8 overall. The trick is to keep it mellow toned.. you may sacrifice some down low rumble but you will save the up top rice sound.

I'd like a down low rumble and a good sounding top end. I understand its not going to sound exactly like an eight but I want it as close as possible. With it being as inexpensive as possible. I know its just opinion but what exhaust has the best bang for the buck in y'alls point of view?

i went to a very reputable performance shop and had my exhaust done. they had a showroom that was wired for surround, and setup all their different systems choices on them so you could hear each system before deciding. I would look for a shop like that, even if for nothing else but to get an idea of what type of sound you want. the x pipe seems to tone down the raspyness imho
