Anybody know the value of...?

a 1965 Mustang...its a one barrel and a straight 6...with a 3 speed...I want to know about the price so I am not getting ripped off...

Depends on shape, options, and what the car means to you.

6 cylinders dont have much of a resale value. People dont buy them to restore, they buy them to take out the 6 and drop in an 8, make a nice little toy.

but still...the lady is asking for 4k I really like the car... all most everything is stock...I would actually love to restore that one...you know as a kind of a starter or even build the six to run...

well... you said you really like the car. that makes 4k a not so bad price. i wouldnt buy it if it had any rust on it though. it would have to be in pretty nice condition for 4k (aka a managable amount of rust, no dents, all doors and trunk work fine, etc). i would try to talk to her to lower the price to around 2500 if there is some rust and whatnot. and like kiljosh said... i would drop an v8 in there as a part of the restore process (which will make it a bit pricey). i would also consider the amount of money it will take to restore it into the price you are willing to pay... be ready to throw thousands of dollars into it.

Well a motor isnt going to cost me much becuase I have some friends that are willing to give me a 400ci block for free along with a crank, rods, and heads

Have you crawled under the car and looked at the floor boards? How about the cowl area?

I find that hard to believe since the heater core is made of cardboard and generally leaks all over the passenger floor board when it starts leaking.
