btw- light sabers work off of a living crystal that each young jedi has to go on a personal journey to find. then he uses the "force" to line up the living crystal, so that it can be harnessed into a beam of light. Its a very fragile thing. On one hand it can be the Jedi's most powerful weapon. On the other hand, if the Jedi is not true and learned to clear his mind and "listen" as it were, to the force for guidance, the ignition of the beam thru the living Crystal could initiate a reversal of molecular structure in the crystal and very likely trigger an explosion of the saber structure itself. just a little fyi from the Star Wars Nomenclature book.

incorrect. lightsabres are bought at toys r us and are made from plastic.
haha jk.
but joking aside, lightsabres seem impossible to us now... but someday they might not seem so impossible. sci fi is meant to be outrageous and stretch the imagination of the future, but im many cases, science fiction becomes not-so-fiction.
also, i think hyperspace/lightspeed is way more farfetched than lightsabers. first of all, hyperspace is FASTER than the speed of light. how can a vehicle and people inside survive the amount of force faster than the speed of light... even just light speed is crazy. and even if a ship was capable of going that fast... it would take hundreds of years to cross galaxies.

yeah i agree, the g forces involved in lightspeed would just compress the frail human body as flat as a piece of paper.

no.. come on people.. F=ma The speed doesnt matter, its the acceleration...so just get to light speed very slowly (comparatively). then, thething would be the wind resistance (drag) on the front of the "ship"

incorrect sir, space is a vacuum...drag is a function of density, and there is no "density" to speak of in space, therefore there is no drag...

you're all wrong. none of you're picks are anygood. you drive a car or truck. but you fly a spaceship. theirfore they don't fit on this list

And actually, if you use E=mc/\2, as you approciate the speed of light, you approach infinite mass.......

And what about the photons floating through space? I'm sure at the speed of light or past it, photons from a light source might present a problem, since you would have to fly "through" them, to get where you are going. So instead of wind resistence and aerodynamics, you would have to consider photon resistence and light dynamics

also, it would be incredibly difficult to navigate since you wouldn't be able to see ahead of you accurately...

Interesting concept. Traveling at the speed of light or more would possibly present a problem for light based particles becoming damaging to things traveling faster than them. But I do think that since these types of particles travel through the body constantly anyway, that it would be irrelevant.
