agreed, this sorta stuff alone makes the idea of buying a vette sound much better than a Cobra

Not to mention the only equavilent vette to a Cobra is a ZO6.
aside from the fact a C5 is still 30-35k, and insurance is going to be 2-300$ a month for any white male in his 20's. If you have any incidents on record (accident or tickets), kiss that number goodbye. my boss pays 250$/mo ins. for a base C5, hes 28 and hasnt had a ticket since he was 23, insurance through progressive. however im sure having a 07 Buell Thunderbolt isnt helping any. And payments on a 30k+ ZO6 are easily going to be 550-600 a month unless you have epic credit (high 700's or 800's).
Then theres a Cobra, which you can get for $30K MAX at a dealership (ford being the key word here) or 25k and under from private party, so your payments will be under $500 a month. Insurance? for me with two tickets on record, BY MYSELF (any new car i get will not be under parents plan, my rule not theirs), was $220 / Mo for full coverage (50/100/50), i just took out the rental policy and raised my deductibles to $1000 instead of $500.
however both cars are equally badass. If you can afford the ZO6, get it. If now, the cobra isnt any less of a car, and depending on your goals, it might be a better / easier route to get to a certain goal (if you want to stick with forced induction or something).

I paid $21k for my C5 (granted, it's not a Z06) and pay $370 every six months for full coverage.

a huge reason that vette's get such "good" gas mileage on the highway is because GM has at the very least a small understanding of something called AERODYNAMICS which we all know ford knows absolutely nothing about

that and the car is light, and it has a small gear ratio so a 70MPH you only turn about 1800RPMs

yeah a C5 Z is gonna be a bit more than a C5 Base, not to mention im always thinking californian pricing, so tack on another 10%. Same with insurance, im sure cali is higher in accidents per capita or some shit like that.

I heard the new Camaro is supposed to have Chevy's new fuel saving system sorta like Dodge's cyl displacement which saves on gas on the V8's. Except I heard that Chevy perfected the idea and it's alot better. We'll see.
When the itch hits me to get a new car I'll be beside myself thinkin about getting the new Camaro and make it a Rumble Bee clone or get a challenger.

Oops, Rumble bee is indeed a mopar thing.
I ment Bumble Bee Camaro clone. But i'm sure the new Camaro will have a special edition Transformer's style.

Over here in the UK theres tons of TDI cars that can get up to 45 mpg. Its funny because my father in law thinks that a car that gets 28 -33mpg is a gas guzzler. He has a Toyota avensis as a work car that only has about 145bhp and gets around 44 mpg. Its a 4 door car and take off actually isn't too bad. It would probably embarass quite a few cars on a roll.
I went to a Ford dealership and they had a focus that had a tastefully done body kit, recaro racing seats, 6 spd, 2.5l turbo engine, and 18's. ofcourse brand new it was going for about 15k pounds which is approximately 30k dollars. I wish Ford would mess around more with turbos like they do out here.
Don't see too many hybrids since the disel engines do so well. I think the best mpg i've seen out of a disel car here is 65 mpg. It was the size of a miata and looked like a turd but sell for a lot cheaper than a hybrid.
