This is my "budget" build that I started about a month ago. Rockers, Rods and all that just came in so I've gotta install all that good stuff. The 442 is down for a while, so I had to find something to tinker with, and it turns out this will be quicker than the 442 was and I've only spent about 4500 including the car. I bought the car 8 years ago when I was 14 and its been stored basically ever since until this year because I thought I had to give it some love.

Mondello JM 22-25-10 Cam - 274/280 .512/.523
Harland Sharp 1.6 Ratio Full Roller Rockers
Trickflow Chromemoly 3/8 in. 8.200 Pushrods
Edelbrock Modified Performer RPM Intake
Pypes 2.5" X-Pipe

Rearend (taking the 442's old one)
Radiator and Fans
and the engine accessories (fuel/water pump)

Very sweet. I really want to build an engine, just for the sake of building one, to get experience, because I have never built one. Good luck. I like 442s and Cutlasses.

It ran strong, but didn't have the power I wanted so I'm taking what I learned from the 442 build and putting it in this one to make it better.

The 442 will be better built, low compression so I can add a little turbo in there. Just finished pricing and parts and things. Now gotta wait for the rest of the money.

You are the shit... I've heard so many people around here try to bash Edelbrock CONSTANTLY and I love seeing people use their products and going back and rubbing it in their faces.


Sounds like a very streetable, but torquey combo. Nice setup.. What kind of Carb are you running?

Not sure yet. I've got a Holley 750 (thats the mockup in the pictures) but probably will be using a 850 Street Avenger or maybe a 850 Demon, not sure.

I should be well over 500 lb-ft to the wheels, probably closer to 550. Horsepower I'll probably be a bit under 500 but oh well.

As for people bashing Edelbrock, I don't mind, everyones got their own opinion. I find Edelbrock parts to work well for me and on top of that, besides really expensive set-ups they're the only company that does anything for Big Block Oldsmobiles.

I wasn't trying to knock Edelbrock at all... Nothing but good to say here, just have a few locals whining about it. Big block power FTW!
