Seems GM has dropped Castrol from their list of approved oils. I have always used it, though I was planning on using Mobile 1 with the new engine.....

For now, since I am poor, I have been using the cheap stuff, but I think I am going to move to synthetic this next change.

I've used Mobil 1 synthetic for every oil change, on every car that I've ever owned. Wal Mart has the best prices I've found on the big 5-quart jugs.

I use Mobil 1, but I think AMSOIL is better than Royal Purple or Mobil 1 and am thinking of switch to it. From my understanding Mobil 1 is no longer a full synthetic even though it says so on their bottle.

So, is there a link to any real article about this or is it just a bloggers post being fact? I see there is a comment by someone stating they work for castrol on there...so it must be fact...but was curious if there was a real article about it.

lol i use it on my cars every time. it was like almost 100$ to redo all the fluids with royal purple (motor oil, rear gear oil, tranny fluid) but whatever. 20$ to change oil myself with RP still beats the snot out of any price for any numnuts shop to do it with garbage dino oil.

I always use Mobile1 Extended performance. I've thought about going to RP now that Wal-mart sells it, but I'm not sure if I want to make the jump or not. It already costs me about $40 for an oil change.

I first read about it on svtperformance. Apparently they had some lawsuit with Castol over sell semi-synthetic oil instead of full synthetic but claiming its full synthetic and they lost so they started doing the same thing, but that could be just some rumor for all I really know. I've been using Mobil 1 for years and think its a good product.

I use mobile 1. After reading a ton of information on it it seems Mobile 1 technically isn't fully synth as they use dino oil to make it~ but... if you look at the chemical compositions it can be considered a full synth~ its odd...
I have heard how Royal Purple is a different type of synthetic so not really sure on that~ some have had issues with it and some love it~all in all mobile 1 works great for me so why mess with something that works.
