I need posi

I have an 86 F-250 that has a single trac diff. and I need posi. I was wondering if anyone knows what 3/4 ton trucks or vans came stock with a posi diff.?

Do you know what rear your truck has now? You might come out cheaper just buying a new one rather than buying a used one and rebuild kit.

All I know is it's dana 60 and i priced new ones based on that and there about $450 for just the diff. and $600 drum to drum. Plus I know of a junkyard that I can get it for next to nothing if I know what to get out of.

An F250 is usually a heavy duty model and they came with a stronger axle than an 8.8. Im pretty sure it came with a dana 60.

I think the D60 is a 1-ton axle, and the F-250 is a 3/4 ton truck, my guess is it has a D44 or a F8.8, I am gonna do some searching and see what I find.

According to car-part.com '86 F-250's came with an 8.8" semi-float or a 10.25" semi-float out back and a D44 up front.

If you have an 8.8" I would suggest an Aussie Locker. I have one under my Jeep and I love it. They are also cheap and easy to do it yourself: Aussie Lockers: Truck - Ford - Pick-Up (F250) - (1983 1986)

Can you get a picture of your rear axle? That would make it easy to tell.

I'm not sure that it's a d60 but I know it's not a d44 cuz my dad had a hi-boy with a d44 and the rearend in my f-250 is alot bigger than the d44. So maybe it's a 10.25 or 8.8 like u said. I wish i could just take a pic but I don't have anyway to take it.

The 10.25 diff cover looks similar to a D60 cover, just w/o a drain plug.
