? about roller motors

I'm wanting to build a 351w and I want a roller motor. My ? is what vehichles came with a roller 351w and is there anyway to identfy a roller motor without taking it apart?

The only 351 w roller I think is the older lightning. You ban buy roller blocks after market.
but if you have an older 351 a machine shop can dod it fairly cheap they sell kits for it

Another option is to buy a non-roller block and buy a roller conversion kit like Summit sells:

that is true I use the old lifter "spyder" then had the maching shop tap the screws in

I had heard thet some vans came with rollers but I don't know what year. anyone know if thats true and if so what years?

I've heard that the 95 or 96 up E 150 vans had them, but no confirmation on that.

that older 351's are much stronger and tend to require less machine work to get them "right" due to that fact.

E-150 late model van blocks are cast the same way as our shitty 5.0 factory blocks and don't take much of a beating...
they will require a full on remanufacture due to core shift and all that dandy stuff.

so get an old block, save your money at the machinist, and spend it on some $400 dollar retrofit comp link-bar lifters.

IMO, having been building windsors and small blocks for the last 15+ years, this is bad info partially. The early 69-75 blocks are stronger but are much more "worn out" when comparing to an F4TE which is the casting for the 351 roller block. If 700hp religiously on the 351 roller blocks is not a beating then tell me what is. I havent seen core shift on a roller block in 10 years and I go through 10-15 roller blocks per month. Also dont use an older non roller block and the stock ford hyd roller lifters and tapping the lifter valley for the hold down, this will limit cam selection to a small base circle camshaft, which are junk. Link bar lifters are the only way to go with a non roller block, obviously the roller blocks will accept stock ford hyd roller components and any std base circle camshaft can be used.
