I have an 86 F-250 with a built 460 and I was playing around with the idea of putting twin turbos on it. I don't really know anything about turbos and was wondering if it's worth doing or would it be a really expensive project? And I'm planing on putting it in an F-150 in the future . So if I did twin turbo it could I transfer everthing over?

the thing about turbos is if you have to ask what it involves, you probably are already in over your head.
i toyed with the notion of turbos on my 02 GT, as i could do it for cheaper than even a used procharger. however there is ALOT of work involved, fabrication wise, picking the correct turbo for your goals, etc. not to mention the need for a way better fuel system, and at that point, now your major holdup is a shitty engine (well, at least the 2v 4.6L), and afterwards a shitty tranny/drivetrain will be next.
and no, if you did a kit for your 86 it will not swap over. you could reuse the turbo's and thats about it.

I'm still interested in learning about turbos, can anyone hook me up with a good web site?

just gotta learn by experience i guess. I got into dsm's and continually help others in their dsm endavours, as well as a bunch of buddies with a slew of other turbo vehicles (Subie, srt4, RX7, Etc). its not something you learn from visiting a website, "Theory is the easy part, Hands on is what seperates men from boys" - My shop teacher. he also taught me K.I.S.S., which stand for "Keep It Simple, Stupid!", which means anytime you try to complicate things, theyre going to blow up in your face.

So... what you are saying is, you have to be born with turbo knowledge, like yourself, to be able to mess with them at all? You can't ask questions and learn about them?

nope, what im saying is, youre not going to learn what to do simply by asking, you have to learn by doing. its really not something that can be readily found on the intraweb.

Try here:
Turbo forums
And
Do a search on howstuffworks.com as I recall, they had a pretty good right up.
You've got to learn some basics before you can even start learning via experience.
