yeah. i cant fathom spending more than 50$ for a set of 26ga metal pieces. the one set i found were 125$ shipped. fuck that. and going with a vinyl inlay was out of the question.

yeah it looks much better and goes with the scheme of things. Changing the letters to black has solidified my choice to stay with the red and black combo, i love it. i cant imagine doing anything different with the exterior now.
thanks for the compliments. can a mod please move this to the pics/videos area? id like more people to see that small things sometimes make the biggest difference, and not everything has to cost what they cost just because vendors can charge what they charge. or something. i dunno.
EDIT:
i didnt remember i uploaded the chrome piece shots. Just to let everyone know, its ideal to put a slight curve into the inserts. flat metal on a rounded bumper, no matter how good the adhesive, will start to back away on the sides of the letters, where the pullout resistance is greater due to the curvature of the bumper. i now have a slight curve to them, just put the letter between your hands, doesnt take much effort, get a nice smooth radius going that matches the bumper and viola! due to the curve, they have equal adhesion across the entire letter, not just the center.

How long do you think the spray will hold up out in the elements?

3 coats of black metallic and 2 coats of clear. Both are automotive quality paint in a little rattlecan (we have this place in town called B&Z Autocolor, that if you give them your paint code, they can get you a rattlecan that matches your paint). i just grabbed whatever they had on the shelf, the guy said the Model Master stuff works awesome for little exterior shit, and should hold up well to the elements, just to wax them as much as the car. he said he uses the same stuff on all his black trims and they have held up for years.
ill probably get some redfire in a can and do the coil covers and throttle body.
