Just bought an 01 3.8L stage 1 roush. As awsome as that sounds i have a problem. It looks like i could smoke a viper,but i could get beat by a vw. It can talk the talk all day long but it cant back it up because other than a cat back the engine and drive train is completly stock. Could some one please tell me some enexspencive ways to make it faster but still mantain good gas mileage and reliability. After all it is my daily driver. Any advice would be helpfull. THANK YOU |

Once you start doing the internals of you engine, basicly everything from your throttle body to you headers, that's when you start really effecting your gas mileage. Simple things like a CAI or UD pulley can actually increase your gas mileage slightly as long as you don't have a lead foot. I was getting close to 33 mpg on the highway before my teardown. Now i get like 20 mpg.

Ditto, cept im getting more like 15 but thats running rich. 
Yea I would say the easiest thing to do would be a centrifugal supercharger setup.
Vortech or w/e, I don't know much about them but Im sure others will agree.

gears/tlok and bolt ons all together should net you about a second off your times. if you have an auto (I hope not...) then you can get a tad more with a tune.

I'm still getting the same mpg that I got pre-h/c/i swap after the install and tune. inexpensive is all subjective; you're in the bolt-on stages still. real power isn't until engine work and forced induction. |

when you start modding you accept the risk that those mods will mess the car up~ just part of it.
If the gears are not installed right it can be a HUGE issue and other such things~
