Yes...ride quality hasn't changed at all...cut 3/4 coil of the rear springs...lowered my car about 1.5"....
If you don't have the dough for lowering springs, there is nothing wrong with cutting your stockers. It will be perfectly fine.
I would suggest starting with about 1/2-3/4 coil in the rear to start...and about the same up front. Start small and cut small additional amounts until you get the height you are looking for. You can't add coil, so don't cut too much at once.
Word of advice...if you cut them and re-install them and don't like the ride height...drive the car around the block before you decide to cut more. My car settled about 1/2-3/4" after driving.

+1 on the above. did it four months ago and after they settled, i have had no problems. i'll eventually get actual lowering springs since this was only a test.

I'm glad I went this route too because I am planning on coil overs now...so I won't be out the price of the lowering springs when I do.

Does any know of a guide/tutorial on cutting my springs process? Is it really that easy to cut the springs or am I confusing the terminology? Any tips? Does this mean that after market springs are completely unnecessary or do aftermarket have a higher performance than cutting them?

Cutting springs is just a way to save some money and achieve the ride height you are wanting. The major advantage to going with different springs is the advancement in handling you receive.
If you are looking for a way to get better handling and a more aggressive height without breaking the bank look into ford c springs, that's what I have on my car right now and I love them.

If done correctly, the cons are minimized. Needless to say the shorter the spring the higher the spring rate has to be. Cutting a coil spring will raise the spring rate. Chances are you could probably cut 1 coil to lower the car. Just guessing here, but that should drop the car about an inch. To go more than, then new springs should be purchased. Although cutting them does increase the spring rate, it will not increase enough for larger drops. The other thing is that a spring is preloaded. If cut too much is will not be and there is a possibilty that the spring could come out of the pocket when the suspension is unloaded.
Cutting the springs is fairly easy. A cutoff wheel can be used. If you look at a spring, you'll see the end coils are bent to make the ends flat. This is done so the spring sits flat in the pockets.
Cutting springs is not anything new. Working with springs under load can be dangerous. Always take precautions, treat them with some respect, and buy the proper tools.

Make sure you take them out to cut them I have done it multiple times with no problems do not cut more than 1 coil off. One coil will lower it about 1.5" after it has settled

Won't he need caster camber plates and a alignment after he cuts them?

maximum motorsport cc plates are the best on the market and they run like 189 a set. They are 4 bolt so they are stronger. They come with a lifetime warranty and they offer nearly twice the adjustment that other brands offer. You can wind up with a set that wont give you enough adjustment~ so fyi.
only cut your springs with a cutoff wheel do not use a torch or anything like that, ONLY cut them.
our sponsor atomic performance is offering a bit of a discount if I remember right to our forum members so that will help you on those cc plates as well so check their site out.
